Despite the Android platform, this form factor is very poor to compete with modern mobile devices. It has no wireless interfaces. The screen is from the last century etc. There are already tons of apps for Android (see http://www.android-freeware.org/ and the list of Android Developers Challenge participants) but because of it's square screen very little apps will display on that screen correctly.
Shame on AT&T! BB Bold was released much earlier by T-Mobile in Germany! They even have an option to buy it without a contract, for the full price. But BE AWARE, this suckers leave the buyers no right to return the phone withing 2 weeks and get whole price refunded!!! This is quite nonsense! T-Mobile really sucks if they use such customers unfriendly politics.

As to blackberry generally, I wish there were more freeware apps for Bold.
http://www.blackberryfreeware.org/ is a good start but we need more cool apps, which use GPS, WiFi etc!

WiFi on BB Bold is just great, I'm really satisfied! The problem is in its web browser! I don't know why it's so screwed. Usability there is just hell. It's not even closely comparable with iPhone and iPod touch browser experience.

As to software, I wish there were more freeware apps for Bold.

Shame on Rogers! BB Bold was released much earlier by T-Mobile in Germany! They even have an option to buy it without a contract, for the full price.

Bold is an amazing device! Except that it's so much dependent on operators.
I wish there were more freeware apps for BlackBerries than on the site

Hey, this Thunder is looking good. Does anyone have specs?

Meanwhile, just discovered a good site for blackberry software to feed my Bold: http://www.blackberryfreeware.org/

When does thunder come out?
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm in the market for a new phone and money isn't a limitation. I'm also not partial to any particular US carrier, but here are some of the features I'd like to have: WiFi, GPS, good coverage in lots of places, push Gmail (a must!), physical keyboard (a must!), a touchscreen, decent battery life and a relatively slim body. And please, nothing that has a fruit logo on it. No offense to the fruit fans, though. Thanks!"
