Yeah- but who really takes TopGear seriously? It's infotainment. Besides, they need to start calling Jaguar by the name of its parent company, Tata.

Who doesn't like tatas?
Yes, Ford took out a large loan in 2005, but that just shows that they anticipated a downturn and prepared for it. Yes, they have problems. Any company would have problems when faced with a 42% drop in sales YoY. However, Ford is doing the number one thing an auto company has to do in this environment: focus on building quality vehicles. They've just launched the 2010 Fusion, Mustang, and F-150. The Taurus is coming in a few months, complete with a 365 HP SHO variant. In 2011, we'll see the new Fiesta and Focus, along with mass production of the ecoboost engines.

Ford is going to come out of this recession lean, mean, and gunning for Toyota's throat.
Wow- I can't believe I got a comment in before the Apple guys.

Listen- nobody is going to force you to give up your iPhone. The Android platform will in no way "kill" the iPhone platform. I think that the Android OS "may" claim more total market share in the distant future- but, why should Apple fans care?

I don't think you should care one bit.

Apple products are like Audis. They're well designed, well executed, and expensive. If you look at the specs, you can get much better vehicles for less money. But, Audi customers are buying the package. They're not buying the stats. They're willing to pay more to get the Audi experience. Apple customers are the same way, they want the Apple experience.

So- fear not, flame not. G1 and iPhone can exist in Harmony. Both will make money, and both will make their consumers happy.
I don't look at this as a "me too" device at all. If you look at HTC's phone lineup, it is obvious that they could have produced a phone that is more iPhone-like if T-Mobile and Google had requested them to. They obviously want consumers to be able to tell, at first glance, that this phone is NOT an iPhone.

The G1 isn't an iClone- it is the anti-iPhone... a phone for those of us unwilling to bow down and pray in the direction of Cupertino five times a day. The G1 is not perfect, but it is a huge step in the right direction.
I think that the caps will be temporary. T-Mo is just now releasing 3G. They probably don't want people slamming the service with downloads until they make sure it is stable. I foresee them moving the cap to a more iPhone like 5GB within a few months.

@epoch - I understand why they only want the G1 on a 3G network- imagine the swarm of unhappy users complaining about how slow the phone is without 3G. They don't want a repeat of the first iPhone. However, I do feel your pain- It seems like Cleveland / Buffalo / Pittsburgh is always the last place on earth to get anything (I lived there for most of my life).

Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm looking for a solid state drive, around 32 to 64GB, for use in my web server. The drive will contain my web sites and the operating system, either Windows Server 2008 R2 or Ubuntu. Large storage is handled by a separate RAID array, so capacity is not an issue. Rather, I am looking for the fastest, longest-lasting, and most reliable drive under $150 that is suitable to my application. Any thoughts? Thanks!"
