And she likes it in the butt!
"God, I wish no one could SEE me now!"
OF COURSE news is slow lately! It's SUNDAY during the HOLIDAY season. What did you expect? An iPhone nano update? New product announcement? You came here to find something to read, didn't you? And Darren provided you with something to read, didn't he? And now you know a little bit more, don't you? Here's some news for you: I didn't take a shit today! You should thank Darren for adding another wrinkle to your SMOOTH brain.
And what "pain and suffering" would they be causing by looking into why we pay so much for certain things? You're not forced to pay for Bucks tickets, it's YOUR CHOICE to go to the games or not, but we ARE forced to pay per sms or for a messaging package. If Congress wants to help me keep a few dollars in my pocket, especially in the economic situation that we are in now, then I'm all for it.
Anybody ever notice that you don't get these stories/posts about the OTHER GSM Carrier - T-Mobile? I'm just saying think about it. If you're paying for a service, it should work, RELIABLY. I'm just saying...

Nokia E71-2 on T-Mobile. (Thinking about making the jump to AT&T but stories like this make me rethink that thought.)
Am I the only one that realizes that the "chin" was included for a reason? If the phone was straight then the screen would get all scratched up since its plastic, and the trackball would bet jammed down into the housing the first time you place the phone down hard on it's face. The "chin" keeps both these things from happening. Also by the "chin" being angled up, it helps those with shorter thumbs be able to grasp the phone. The "chin" makes it more comfortable.

I got the G1 on day 2. Battery Life was horrible (charging 2-3 times a day), Android Market was stocked with worthless apps and kids screaming "FIRST" and cursing and the camera could only take a decent picture in the brightest of light. But I held on to the G1 with the hope that things would get better. Things didn't get better. Last week I traded it for a Nokia E71-2. I was using a N95-8GB before the G1 so you could say that I'm partial to Symbian S60. Android is a nice OS, don't get me wrong. Contacts, Calendar, Gmail (email), Maps and the browser are well intergrated. It's just that everything was just so SLOW. I was going to alot of interviews last month and if I was to rely on the G1 to alert me that I had an event or interview ahead, I would have missed EVERY ONE of them. It wouldn't alert me until after i had already awaken it to check my calendar. This also happened with emails. I have Gmail, Yahoo and Hotmail accounts. It wouldn't let me use Hotmail unless it's a PAID Plus account. Then it wouldn't show all my Yahoo emails. I would look at the G1 and my pc screen and there would be missing emails on the G1. Even AFTER refreshing. The browser was only ok. There was no way to organize bookmarks. Also, there is no option to EXIT the browser. You either press Home (which leaves the browser running) or repeatedly press Back until the browser closes. The funniest thing I found was that they expect you to download apps, but only give you a skimpy amount of memory to store it in. These problems just killed it for me. Which is why I had to let it go. If I can't rely on it to organize my life (which it SHOULD do), Then I dont need it.

The E71 does everything I need: business and personal. It pulls all my emails, alerts me when I need it to, I can exit the browser easily, has ample app memory and the option to install to the memory card. On the personal side, I can go to mosh.nokia.com to download any apps I want. FREE. Tomb Raider, Crash 3D Racing, NFS Undercover, All installed. And the 1500mAh battery lasts forever! Seriously at least 1.5 days with only 3G off (I'm on T-Mobile).

Sorry for the LONG post, I just had had to let out my disappointment with the G1 to someone. Android still has promise but the G1 is hopeless. Thanks for listening.
May I have one please?
Thanks derX. I do admit I was a little excited when I posted but can you blame me? Everyone was. Just to see that Nokia leaped ahead to the next level that Apple was probably going to go to next June/July. Now where does that leave Apple? They HAVE to release something better. This phone has EVERYTHING and MORE that iPhonatics have been begging for since the beginning so it only puts MORE pressure on Apple to do better. The only things I see that I might have a problem with on the N97 is the D-pad being on the left and the small uncentered SPACEBAR.

I knew it! Game Over Apple!
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm in the market for a new phone and money isn't a limitation. I'm also not partial to any particular US carrier, but here are some of the features I'd like to have: WiFi, GPS, good coverage in lots of places, push Gmail (a must!), physical keyboard (a must!), a touchscreen, decent battery life and a relatively slim body. And please, nothing that has a fruit logo on it. No offense to the fruit fans, though. Thanks!"
