Hope the HTC Touch pro 2 does come out on T mobile now - hopefully Verizon will get the Diamond 2 within 6 months. For those on the fence, looks like more competition and pressure to move forward within the next six months. Anything less will quickly seem obsolete. So hold on and pressure Verizon & ATT to move to the next generation ASAP.
Agree totally the phone is overpriced and late to the party. I too have a Moto Q which frankly is adequate for now. 6 months ago i would have jumped but now we'll wait for the Diamond 2. Doesn't make sense that the touch pro is only $10 more. There's some confusion over the specs which will clarify upon the release. i believe there is a card slot and Sprint level memory. Any Diamonds in the pipeline should be dumped for no more than $100 and the Diamond 2 release accelerated. Some rumors have the Diamond 2 coming to Verizon in May - probably unrealistic but I'd consider that at $200 to $250. Keep in mind that 3G is no big deal. Data speeds will not significantly improve until 4G is widespread on your next phone after this upgrade.

Profit drop during a recession not so bad. Good that they're still profitable. HTC erred IMO in offering short term exclusives to Sprint & T mobile. Verizon release of the Diamond now a major strategic nono compounding their failure to timely release the phone in the first place. Diamond 2 will be great when it finally arrives. hopefully with a 3.5 jack on board. I'm waiting unless LG or Samsung bring out a better WINDOWS MOBILE product first. So far they haven't.
Good comment. I don't think they lowered the memory, and they did add the card slot. Nonetheless, i agree with the main premise. Verizon waited too long to bring the HTC Diamond out. We'll wait for the next generation later this year - either the Diamond 2 or the HD successor Whitestone.
Great idea. Hope one is a cross between the HTC Diamond 2 & HD. With the Motorola rumor, its clear the game is heating up. Hope they have their sights set beyond the next iPhone release, and upgradeable to WM 6.5 & 7. I'm sure I'm not the only one who's grown extremely frustrated with the inadequate response to the iPhone to date. Problem is both carriers & manufacturers. Yes, worth waiting for a mature product. Now get us our phones. I need a major network, would switch between ATT & Verizon if one lags much more or fails to market competitively.
That would be great if Motorola could get its act together. Should have all HTC Diamond 2 features, power and a slightly larger screen (smaller than HD tho) if design not set. Be upgradeable to WM 6.5 & 7. truth is we'd rather buy American, especially these days. Now release it yesterday
The Diamond & Pro are late to market, obsolete and overpriced. HTC and the vendors need to bring the HD to the US market and add a mid size touch smartphone about the size of of the Storm. And address the operational issues raised by the othe posts. My contract ended in November. Verizon has until May 1 to bring out and HD or equivqlent WM phone or I'm jumping ship. Verizon, ATT& Sprint, hope you're listening.
Can you really blame HTC for spreading a little disinformation to preserve the Diamond franchise for a few months? All they're really saying is wait one more product cycle for the HD or equivalent successor. I stopped by Sprint in the US today and played with a Diamond for a few minutes. The sales rep had one. Rep liked everything but the small Qwerty keyboard. To me the screen, tho nice, was a bit small - or at least not enough larger to make me upgrade today from my Moto Q. And i didn't like the lack of a card slot. So guess what? I'm holding onto my wallet for now and passing on the Diamond. I'll take a good look at the BB Storm but will wait for now for the HD - unless someone else beats them to the punch on Verizon. My best guess is I'll have an HD or competitive equivalent by the end of April.....
I was waiting for the HTC Touch HD. Samsung Omnia a possibility and now the Storm. I need to use activesync on one of my computers. I thought Blackberry has there own proprietary sync software which is not compatible with Activesync. Anyone familiar with this issue/ Thanx
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I own an iPhone 3G and I'm looking for a decent speaker / alarm clock for it. I am going to listen music in a mid-sized room, so I want nice quality speakers with solid bass. I also want to use it as an alarm clock, so it would be great if there is such a feature. The price can be low-mid to mid-high range. I was looking at the Klipsch iGroove SXT; it's powerful, slick and the reviews are good, but it doesn't have an alarm clock feature. It's no deal breaker if I can set it up from the iPhone, but I'm not sure. Thanks!"
