I wish I could even make/receive calls in the 4th largest city in the country (Houston, TX) reliably on Sprint. I gladly paid the ETF to leave them after 6 months. Pointless to have a phone you can't even use when driving around to your clients.
In for the win!
So you think the US marketplace will bear the full cost of mobile devices? Would you pay $550 for a Piece of Crap RAZR? No carrier is going to give you a free phone without the benefit of the lock.
Ever been faced with the horrible words "unable to reproduce" ? ;) I've bought many lemon refurbs in my day. I tend to avoid them because of my past experience even though most refurbs are likely better tested than new.

You are insane if you think Exchange 2007 lacks OWA. It has, however, been significantly changed/overhauled. Regardless I am sick and tired of people calling this product their savior and claiming it "syncs" their iphone. Until a product brings OTA EMail/Calendar/Contacts/Tasks/Etc it isn't sync'ing anything. This product is aimed at companies that want to support iPhone but don't want to open IMAP. I'd imagine the market to be about 1 in 500,000 companies so I'm amazed its been on every single technology news site and blog.
iPhones are a closed platform for stability. This makes them incapable of crashing. You must all be mistaken.
To implement on the device and be legal they would have to acquire a license from Microsoft to do it. Palm did so with on the Treo 650 for the prior version of Server Activesync, so it it feasible to think a vendor might do that again for DirectPush. Unfortunately I haven't seen anyone else do it yet, so we have no point of reference for comparison.

As for the first responder here, it uses 80 *or* 443 depending on wether or not you are using SSL. You also seem to be implying that they would need a license to authenticate with the Exchange server using SSL which just doesn't make any sense.
My local store manager said they hadn't gotten their shipment in, but they did get a memo in that said they couldn't sell them until the 15th even if they did. Seems to disagree with the information we are hearing about here.
If he identifies it as the "8900c" one would assume that's a Cingular model number based on the Blackberry name's of the past.
Rick F,

Your Proliant 6400R uses enough power directly from the socket, and indirectly (heat, etc. adding load to your AC) to buy one of these NAS boxes every 8-12 months. And I pity your sanity for having to listen to the unit.

Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm in the market for a new phone and money isn't a limitation. I'm also not partial to any particular US carrier, but here are some of the features I'd like to have: WiFi, GPS, good coverage in lots of places, push Gmail (a must!), physical keyboard (a must!), a touchscreen, decent battery life and a relatively slim body. And please, nothing that has a fruit logo on it. No offense to the fruit fans, though. Thanks!"
