Your math is right. You have to keep the phone for at least 30 days to have the option to pay the $175 ETF. If you tried to return it in, say, a week, they will want their phone back, or will charge your account for the balance of a full price phone if you try to keep it. They may also keep your contract running untile the phone is returned or a police report is produced by you, should your phone get stolen.

While T-Mobile has eliminated their $5 T-Zones internet for new accounts, they still absolutely offer a full internet plan at $19.99. An unlocked iphone can definitely make use of EDGE in that regards. Come 12-31-08, both the 3G and 2.5G iPhone can be used on T-Mobile, save for their 2100 Mhz 3G.
To hell with the wife, the kids, my boss, her boss, and anyone else out there.

I want the Fuze for myself!
You are making the smart decision. While the FastMac iV for the 3G iPhone looks like something from 1988, it can more than TRIPLE battery life with all my radios on. WiFi, 3G, Bluetooth, etc. I am so glad I cancelled my order for the Mophie!

Good news:
1. 3100 mAh battery
2. can dock right into 3G and Universal dock, charge phone and be charged simultaneously
3. full-size USB that can simultaneously charge phones, PSP, whatever!
4. Flash to help remove red-eye in photos or use as a torch at night
5. talk for 24 solid hours
6. or listen to 72 hours of audio
7. or 21 hours of video
8. or 31 DAYS STANDBY (WOW)
9. uses iPhone cable, so no additional cables to carry

Bad News:
1. Doubles thickness of phone
2. almost doubles the weight of the iPhone
3. barely pocketable
3. designed back in the 80's LOL

I really don't think that an external 3100 mAh battery slide-on case could ever be as beautiful as a naked iPhone. However, that huge battery and the ability to dock it was enough for me to cancel my backordered Mophie Juice Pack and have one of these overnighted to me. As of this email, Fastmac only has about 2 days-worth of stock remaining as of this email.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm looking for a solid state drive, around 32 to 64GB, for use in my web server. The drive will contain my web sites and the operating system, either Windows Server 2008 R2 or Ubuntu. Large storage is handled by a separate RAID array, so capacity is not an issue. Rather, I am looking for the fastest, longest-lasting, and most reliable drive under $150 that is suitable to my application. Any thoughts? Thanks!"
