Why aren't they going to cities like Los Angeles, New York or San Francisco? Do they think people in these cities will buy one without hesitation?

I paid $69.99 for my repair, and they sent me a check for $139. So I'm quite a happy camper. =)

My DS Also has the crack. always opened with care, always kept in a case. I don't think the crack really affects the unit too much though.... but I'm definitely not going to spend $40-$50 to fix it. Oh yea, I've had it since it was released, and I just noticed the crack recently.
