Hmm, I might withdraw the observation. . .I can't get anything else to agree with mobilespeedtest.com

The speedtest app Android and Me recommended returns 500-600kbps consistently. Is mobilespeedtest multiplying everything by 10?
Ok, tried posting from the phone but that failed. . .ah, the irony.

Hollywood, CA, full 3G signal, which means I'm outdoors in the special one spot where that happens in L.A.

The average speed was 5000kbps It hit over 6k once and in the 3k a couple times. But out of 15 tests on a rebooted phone it averaged about 4900kbps
Still seems weird that in areas I've been through today with reported outages, mine has been fine. Seems like something with the accounts as opposed to an area outage.

Also nice to see a few people not freak out. T-mob might not be the premiere choice, but it seems to have more loyal customers (despite this) than other providers. That has to say something for the service we've had and the track record. From GTE to Cingular to T-mobile, I'm certainly happy with T-mobile, especially when something goes wrong. That's generally when you discover how shitty your service really is, not when things are smooth. Will be curious to see what they do to address this, that's a better measure of a provider than, "OMG, iPhone PWNS!"
Blazingly fast because you're the only one on it. . . .?
I'm in Los Angeles (almost Marina Del Rey) and it's fine for me. I also work about 100 yards from their nearest tower.
*snicker* After reading the responses elsewhere, everyone seems to come back to how well designed and pretty Macs are. . .but you cannot escape the basic fact that overall Apple uses some pretty draconian policies. If I want something that "simply works" then my choice is apparently not a Mac. I work in high-end CG applications. Most of which work much better on other platforms because of such restrictions Apple has placed on software. I have fewer choices for extensions and plug-ins on a Mac and even fewer options for 64-bit software in a field where it's a necessity to access large databases. This isn't a problem with developers. . .it's a problem that's illustrated right here.

Until the situation changes I will choose the least expensive box of cornflakes. Not the cornflakes in the pretty box.
Great. . .little photoshop action. . .boom! Riches beyond my wildest dreams!

I don't see banks going to this too soon. The liability is huge. And if they do, can I opt out that MY checks can be submitted this way? (On the rare shot I write one.)
Hmm, tried on mine, RC29 and doesn't work. Might be kinda funny if it did. . .parlor trick. But no such luck.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I own an iPhone 3G and I'm looking for a decent speaker / alarm clock for it. I am going to listen music in a mid-sized room, so I want nice quality speakers with solid bass. I also want to use it as an alarm clock, so it would be great if there is such a feature. The price can be low-mid to mid-high range. I was looking at the Klipsch iGroove SXT; it's powerful, slick and the reviews are good, but it doesn't have an alarm clock feature. It's no deal breaker if I can set it up from the iPhone, but I'm not sure. Thanks!"
