On paper the N97 was very close to being the perfect handheld device. however it needs to be changed in 3 major areas:

1) beefier processor.

2) capacitive screen over resistive

3) software... Ideally I'd like to see either HTC's build for the hero running on it. OR WebOS

the other 2 are just personal preferences:

4) a physical D-pad on the screen area instead of the keyboard. Much like those seen on the devices from the HTC Kaiser to the touch pro 1. I still like to use buttons for some apps

5) Support for the upcoming (micro)SDXC cards, that will really give us media on the move :D
Didn't have time to go over all the comments, and havent yet read the whole article...

But here in the UK, you're not allowed to use an active working mobile in a Doctor's practice/office for fears of getting someone's Pacemaker going.

Are you allowed to use Cellphones casually in doctors practices in the states?
Hardware wise the nokia N97 is SOOOOOO close to being the perfect device.

What it needed was a capacitive touch screen, decent software, And a Beefier processor.

on the software front I would love to see them licence WEBOS from palm, or even do something with Android along the lines of What HTC have done, (multi touch and Flash support on a Qwerty Device Yes please!!)
hope this Device gets a capacitive multitouch down the line instead of the current resistive one, Then I would literally own a device that Pwns :P
WHAT!! NO WIFI!! I'm wanting to upgrade from an HTC Kaiser/TYTNII, up to this point I was really contemplating either an HTC touch pro, or a Sony Experia X1. This could have trumped both those for me. however, there is NO WIFI. I find myself travelling lots at short notice for work, and a portable device with wifi is something that I really like using. That way I won't be stung for 3g data roaming rates or have to use HSDPA. And use wifi at hotels and airports Sorry rim, you've lost a guaranteed sale :(
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm looking for a solid state drive, around 32 to 64GB, for use in my web server. The drive will contain my web sites and the operating system, either Windows Server 2008 R2 or Ubuntu. Large storage is handled by a separate RAID array, so capacity is not an issue. Rather, I am looking for the fastest, longest-lasting, and most reliable drive under $150 that is suitable to my application. Any thoughts? Thanks!"
