This is a very good phone if you realize what it is and what it isn't. It IS NOT a smartphone, it IS a good entry level touchscreen phone that works very well for calls and texting.

While it is true that LG/ATT is not forthcoming with firmware/software upgrades, if you have some semblance of computer knowledge, can FOLLOW DIRECTIONS, and are patient, there are a lot of great user created mods out there to make your Vu experience even better (ie, customizing shortcuts, different themes, etc). Use google or visit my favorite forum for the Vu:

Good day!
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm in the market for a new phone and money isn't a limitation. I'm also not partial to any particular US carrier, but here are some of the features I'd like to have: WiFi, GPS, good coverage in lots of places, push Gmail (a must!), physical keyboard (a must!), a touchscreen, decent battery life and a relatively slim body. And please, nothing that has a fruit logo on it. No offense to the fruit fans, though. Thanks!"
