Completely agree with you. Engadget really needs to think of the true cost of purchasing a handset. Not mentioning the additional cost of data over the entire contract is pitiful reporting.
I was talking to AT&T last night about lack of service at work and the tech support person said they expect possibly in the fall around September.

How does this thing work? Do you plug it in and it magically pulls the signal from outside? A subscription cost to this? She said it was about the size of a cable modem and could be used for businesses or in the home. If it’s expensive why would I want to bother for my home or personal service at work?
The only reason they took the 1st,3rd, and 4th position is because of the BOGO promotion by Verizon Wireless. If they were not BOGO, this never would have happened.
I also have the original LG enV from a couple years ago and VZW continues to disappoint on the phone front. I love the coverage I have with them, but AT&T has finally expanded the coverage where I live to include 3G. Come June/July I am switching to, hopefully, the new iPhone.
engadget and the crew are my favorite!
I am going for REAL. It will be NVIDIA, it will have Wireless N and come with a mini-DVI to DVI dongle in the box.
Wow, glad I got out when I did in October. I knew when CC stock was at $.25 that the axe would be coming.
Same thing happened to me with Leopard and their up to date program. I bought a mac mini and then they announce Leopard w/up to date program and I was outside the purchase date by two days, but didn't receive the mac mini until the program was active, however I did not qualify based on the purchase date. I went back and forth, sent in the form, they wouldn't budge on the date or honoring any discount.

I am still using Tiger.
Please for the love of all that is holy pick me. I work two jobs to support 3 kids and a wife. I have no money to buy my own swag.
I would use it to expand my anemic Mac Mini hard drive and finally make the switch to Apple OSX exclusive, no more Windows via boot camp for BeyondTV. Last disc I burned was Raine Maida's Hunter's Lullaby for my wife's van because her iPod is busted.

Thanks
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm in the market for a new phone and money isn't a limitation. I'm also not partial to any particular US carrier, but here are some of the features I'd like to have: WiFi, GPS, good coverage in lots of places, push Gmail (a must!), physical keyboard (a must!), a touchscreen, decent battery life and a relatively slim body. And please, nothing that has a fruit logo on it. No offense to the fruit fans, though. Thanks!"
