What a ridiculous article. Puking because of the choice of colors? What the heck is wrong with that? Have you never heard about tastes and preferences? Do you live in some communist country? I bet people enjoy a lot of choice regarding taste and preference in such countries too.

What about the opposite? What about the annoying obsession that technophiles have with:

- sci fi;
- anime;
- pseudo techno metal/Alien (as in Ridley Scott's movie) inspired scapes and motifs?
- extremely dark, aggressive wallpapers and themes.

These last two are my pet peeves. Why is it that dark, aggressive, badass themes are always "cool" or okay, and anything that dares look cute or somehow naive has to be shot down with so much hatred? Who ever wrote in stone that only a badass attitude deserves respect? When did the whole society decree that the whole gangsta rap or heavy metal "wicked" posing bullshit is socially acceptable? When did the world decide to forget that all that "I'm evil" posing serves no purpose other than hide an enormous feeling of insecurity or self-inadequacy, so typical of teenagers or manchild individuals?

And let's go back to the color. Why does everything have to be black? Because black is mean? Because black is oooooh... scary? No, it doesn't. I guess it can also be white or gray, can't it? Everything has to be very neutral. Or blue. You know what they say, jurors love blue. Is that why there is so much endless use of blue in Web design? What about Apple and that obsession with that sameold-sameold white, refrigerator/washing machine theme? THAT is supposed to be cool? The new KDE4, by the way, SUCKS! It looks foolish, it looks amateurish, it looks like something designed for children. And it copies Apple design all over. Win98 was the hot item way back then, so they copied it. Then Vista was "in", and they copied it. Now OS X is the fashion trend du jour and they duly copy it like the well-behaved copycats that they are.

Now someone comes up with something different and, hey, with a very specific demographic: teenagers. Probably female teenagers. Here is something great about young girls: they are not worried about putting up a ridiculous, make-believe badass or "I'm so techie" front. They are content with being themselves, i.e. happy, friendly, fun, sweet. That's their attitude towards life and I think it's great. All the dumbasses who think that the world is better with a permanent "who-is-meanest" contest haven't got the slightest clue. That's why they try so hard to look mean, because they feel this urge to hide themselves. They suck and they know it.

Purple Linux FTW!!!
The BB browser IS decent. Consider the following things that haven't been said:

1) The guy in the video uses Shift+m to type the period into the URL instead of the Space key. Obviously, someone who is not familiar with Blackberrys.

2) Everything loads a lot faster in "single-column" mode, which the reviewer is not using. I seriously question the intelligence of people who insist on viewing sites in desktop layout on a two-inch screen. Yes, the iPhone does that and it also sucks.

3) Turn off Javascript support. You rarely ever need it. The browser will be A LOT faster with JS off.

4) I noticed the browser trying to load and run scripts even in the mobile version of Engadget. What kind of DUMB ASS writes client-side scripts into a "mobile" site? Whatever Engadget are paying their Web designers, it's more than they deserve.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm in the market for a new phone and money isn't a limitation. I'm also not partial to any particular US carrier, but here are some of the features I'd like to have: WiFi, GPS, good coverage in lots of places, push Gmail (a must!), physical keyboard (a must!), a touchscreen, decent battery life and a relatively slim body. And please, nothing that has a fruit logo on it. No offense to the fruit fans, though. Thanks!"
