Interesting. How much will it cost VZW to buy out Vodafone. I wonder if that would in turn interest Vodafone to buy out Sprint and directly compete with VZW.

Or NTT DoCoMo should buy Sprint instead of going the MVNO route.
So let me get this straight, Verizon Wireless made up of Verizon Corp & Vodafone Group, who have the financial backing, you are comparing them to Leap??? Seriously???? Even back when they first started, those 2 ventures had the cash to expand.

Limiting the roaming to 500,000 and under is a JOKE. As well as a slap in the face to the rural carriers. This is America and its the strongest will survive. Don't worry VZW, what comes around goes around. I can only hope when they need the FCC & DOJ for a favor, they get turned down. Even if it means going out of business.

Stingy corp Wireless Companies. The Big 4 carriers deserve no loyalty. All of them are in bed with each other.
Eh, they are on AT&T. Nice but its a shame.
The Tour is nice whether VZW or Sprint (and BTW Sprint's Tour is available online thru Sprint's website), but it is not THAT more improved over the Curve. I seen all the specs for both and honestly the Tour is NOT worth $199. It's a repackaged Curve. RIM is just charging you more for a sliver and black Curve.

I'll take this orange curve (Or buy new housing and custom the curve) and wait til RIM releases the Atlas with WiFi. At least for $199 with WiFi its a starting point. They need to rev it up like releasing more optical trackball BB devices. Then $199 it's worth to upgrade from the Curve.

Too many people bought into the Tour Hype. I didn't, it's a CURVE
First the BOGO offers helps RIM greatly. Complacency is not good for RIM. They can change the color of the keyboard, and trackball. Even give an optical trackball for some models but that may not be enough. I do agree the same old OS is dull. Look at HTC's Sense UI, Palm Pre WebOS. I would not doubt that Jobs and Apple are not working on topping WebOS and Sense UI. RIM need to get all the ball. If no designer has an answer, hire ones that do. Get people who push the envelope.
I think if RIM wants to jump in the consumer market, they have to think of new form factors. I have to agree, the form factor is TIRED! I mean come on, The Pearl was different and sold very well. The Pearl Kickflip was a good idea but eh nice try back to the drawing board!

Now if they made a BB with a slide out keyboard would be nice attraction to the non business consumer IMHO. Maybe the Storm2 will be improved and more for the non business user.
WOW, we need to re-evaluate our priorities in life. If you have that much time on your hands, you can be more productive.
Roger McNamee was correct on a lot of fronts! WOW, if you are skeptical on buying the pre, just watch this interview.
Verizon didn't do something ground breaking. They did, what all wireless carriers do, modify plans to attrach other customers from other carriers.

As I said all other carriers copy off each other. I agree with others on here that AT&T along with Sprint will modify plans as well.

Good for Verizon customers who this applies to and feel sorry for those that don't get this feature. This does nothing for the low end customers. This goes to both Verizon AT&T. I'm sure if AT&T adopts this, it will go to the $59.99 single min & $89.99 family plan. They will follow Verizon. Thanks AT&T, screw the $49.99 customers like Verizon. They obviously showed what they really think of the low end customers.

Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I own an iPhone 3G and I'm looking for a decent speaker / alarm clock for it. I am going to listen music in a mid-sized room, so I want nice quality speakers with solid bass. I also want to use it as an alarm clock, so it would be great if there is such a feature. The price can be low-mid to mid-high range. I was looking at the Klipsch iGroove SXT; it's powerful, slick and the reviews are good, but it doesn't have an alarm clock feature. It's no deal breaker if I can set it up from the iPhone, but I'm not sure. Thanks!"
