Most GM vehicles made from 2002-2004 are in a junk yard anyway.
I assume that this will only work in a phone that supports it, correct?
Scott - Not that I don't agree with your comments about Sony, I absolutely do, however I think that their 94% drop in profits could be due to replacing 10 million+ defective batteries.. ;)
WOW, I have this phone, and it is amazing.

About Mike Griff's comment though -

I just tried to set an mp3 ringtone, and he's right, it is locked. I didn't know that until he said that.

Luckily I don't usually use that feature, but I'm a little ticked off that I just switched from Verizon only to find out that T-Mobile is pulling the same crap.
Can you disable AMR-HR on a Palm like you can by seem editing a Motorola?

I'd love this phone, but I'll be darned if I'm going to pay full-rate and talk on a half-rate network! It's disabling AMR-HR or T-Mobile for me!
Why didn't you just try a different handset instead? I wouldn't have left the store without a replacement if it was under warranty. Especially only to leave and incur the costs of switching carriers.

But that's just me. I'm stuck with Verizon, so I'm used to sucky handsets.. ;)
Oh wow, I just researched this some on Howard Forums. People are FURIOUS, because it isn't actually finished. Check out what OldEngineer posted (a very well-respected member with over 2300 posts):

I know quite a few engineers on the inside, all over the country. The integration is NOT complete, not by any reasonable definition. I'm sure they've got some lawyers handy to carefully parse their words and narrowly define what THEY mean by "complete" so they can't be prosecuted for FRAUD, but by any common sense, ordinary person kind of definition, their claim is a flat out lie.

This is just eyewash for Wall Street.

ACK.
So there is no more 380 network?

Somehow I don't believe it. We weren't integrated merely 2 months ago. Haven't checked since then (when I switched to Verizon).

The funny thing is that I switched (back) to Verizon because I had horrendous amounts of dropped calls, network busy signals and missed incoming calls even with great signal strength.

What used to happen daily hasn't happened once since I switched back to Verizon. Not trying to plug Verizon here, there are plenty of things about them that I hate as well, but the PR article just irked me as I read it.
I wonder if someone will build a septuple-band world phone with 850/900/1700/1800/1900/2100/2400 GSM/UMTS/HSDPA?

So much for GSM being standard, 'eh?
ryan bean - If by Engadget editors say incredibly stupid things, you mean that you say incredibly stupid things, than you are absolutely correct.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm in the market for a new phone and money isn't a limitation. I'm also not partial to any particular US carrier, but here are some of the features I'd like to have: WiFi, GPS, good coverage in lots of places, push Gmail (a must!), physical keyboard (a must!), a touchscreen, decent battery life and a relatively slim body. And please, nothing that has a fruit logo on it. No offense to the fruit fans, though. Thanks!"
