IMMEDIATELY thought the same exact thing. Wonderswan Crystal. But Androided?

Sign me the hell up.
Engadget stole the phone! More at 11
The dude who said he got it admitted in the thread above that it was fake and pretty much an attention grab.
Good show, Palm.

GREAT show, Engadget.
As someone who owns a Zen: Vision M and had a normal Zen (the model before this), and as a massive Creative lover and hater of Engadget's general dumbassery when it comes to non-Apple stuff, I don't really see any bias from the article here. Making fun of the design being from 2007 is -really- odd all things considered, but this thing is a total hack job.

I don't really see any reason to get this player at all, considering it nerfs almost all of the codecs (to the people being mad about FLAC, it's fairly obvious that this player isn't for people who would know what that format is), and is honestly -more- expensive than the normal model, but with no design changes whatsoever. I don't get it, Creative.
I was going to reply separately to Matt and Chris, but Matt didn't say anything really worthwhile so I'll just reply to Chris.

First thing, just a typo probably; Vegas doesn't have EDGE; they went even lower with GPRS data on this one.

It's similar in looks. That's more than fair, and other articles about the phone mention this. Deeming it a KIRF is, to me, an overreaction. Sensationalizing the story by claiming it's the first time a Western company has blatantly put a KIRF on their network is bad, too. Bad form there, and the article is in pretty bad taste too.

But HTC did not make this phone. It is the ZTE X760, like Cesar said earlier. I don't know who saw the HTC logo on the battery cover, considering there's not really any high-res photos of the thing anywhere.

As for the Cookie/iPhone comparison, I think it's valid in the context of the discussion still.
But it's got a touchscreen and is somewhat rectangular-y, they must be one and the same!

Pretty much the only thing you've got here is the shape of the phone, which is similar, but it's nowhere near good enough to justify the amount of venom spewed towards the phone. Especially for a prepaid phone.

I understand blogging needs opinions, but you're really grasping for straws here. You also forgot to leave out that topping up gets you extra bonuses like text messages and access to Myspace and whatnot. Why not report on that instead of throwing it under the bus?
Seriously, Engadget? Really?

So are you going to say the LG Cookie is an iPhone ripoff, too? Ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous.
Looks like the Skype logo.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just switched to Sprint from Verizon about three months ago for the Pre. Then I went for the Hero about a week ago. Now, I miss my hardware keyboard and am thinking about switching to the Moment. I am still able to switch back to Verizon if I want and get the Droid when it arrives. Should I just trade up to the Moment when it comes out, see if I like it, and if not switch to the Droid? Or something else entirely? Help!"
