Just spent a long while on the phone with a T-Mobile Store and 1-800-T-Mobile customer service. They are all confused about this product, plan, and pricing. I recieved 3 different answers to the same question.
It's not a stand alone product without a currently active T-Mobile account.
Pricing varied from $199.99 to $39.99 depending on who you spoke with.
Plan was $9.99 to $1.99 depending on who you spoke with.
I'm not impressed with T-Mobile's customer service nor it's marketing folks.
Too bad, it could have been a great gift for my grandmother as a stand alone product.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I've found myself using my PC for a lot of conversations lately, and I'm also considering recording a podcast to share with anyone who will listen. There are tons of USB headset / microphones out there, and I'm hoping someone has some solid recommendations based on experience. I'll consider both headsets and standalone mics, by the way, but I'd like to keep the bill under $100 if possible. Help!"
