I see where this will go - once jailbroken, iPhone is like DOS - with no security at all.
I don't believe people who crack applications are all saints, I can't trust my data to these hands! What's more, any app is able to do anything it wants to - in background - no problem - spy on you> Ofcouse, camera and microphones do help a lot, keep that jailbroken iPhone in a tin box to protect your private life I'd say!!
I am sure people with jailbroken iPhones will soon find their identities stolen, just wait, it's all in pipeline. Cydia has another agenda - they now have launched a service where they "protect" genuine apps from being cracked!
All this BS about apple not allowing apps to do whatever they want is driven by ulterior motives - wake up people!!! I am sure all the people who promoting would have never allowed UNIX systems to be built - they loose their edge.
I guess I have made a point, Cydia supporters would now have something to say of course - I am stepping on their business model now!
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm in the market for a new phone and money isn't a limitation. I'm also not partial to any particular US carrier, but here are some of the features I'd like to have: WiFi, GPS, good coverage in lots of places, push Gmail (a must!), physical keyboard (a must!), a touchscreen, decent battery life and a relatively slim body. And please, nothing that has a fruit logo on it. No offense to the fruit fans, though. Thanks!"
