At&t did not have to buy anything from these companies. Sharp doesn't even have any phones with att. They should be suing apple for price fixing and charging too much for the i-crap.
I think Sprint is not going anywhere anytime soon. I have been with Sprint Since the mid 90's. I had switched to Pac Bell way back when and I loved the Erickson I had but everytime I pulled ou the phone to make a call it would read No Service and mind you I was in the middle of San Jose and no hills and no tall buildings in sight and I loved in Sales at the time and it was very important that I phone would say anything but no service. I was offfered 6 months free and I said no thanks. I had Cingular a few years afterward and it was the same and I am a Sprint Customer and I have always loved thier service and phones and I dont have to tell anyone about their BAD customer service as we all know. I think Pre was a great addition to Sprint. Now TP2 and HERO coming out. I think iphone is great but AT&T sucks big time. I recently was cancelling a extra line I had on my account and I had 6 more months to go and was let out of my contract for a $20 and I was happy. I still have sprint and wil have sprint until they die or they are taken over by crappy tmbl or att.
It looks as good as the Pre if not better. Only problem I had with the Pre was battery life so I am hoping that they have addressed that issue. I think it will do great. Palm please have a phone coming out with a sideways slide out keyboard. So many many would want that phone as it is so much easier to type on the sideways slide outs. I loved the Web OS. I would never get an iphone on AT&T as they suck and charge too much. I hope Palm and Sprint keep working together have atleast 1-2 year exclusive rights before the big red and att can get their hands on anything good and along with the new pricing on the any network calling plan for $70 can't get any better. Come on people pay the $150 early term and support Sprint in bring goodness to the phone world.
i think it's about time that Motorola came out with something that anyone looking for smaet phone and I have been disapointed in the past with Moto Q and other model along the same line of models. It looks good so far but Motorola is just catching up with the HTC's and Samsung etc. I loved the Palm Pre but took it back because of the battery life. Hope Palm will come out with a Pre and another model it sideways sliding keyboard in addition to the sliding upward keyboard. Good Luck Moto. I am looking forward to HTC Hero on Sprint.
Can Palm atleast try to provide Pre's to their previous obligation of Sprint Customers before they go out to the Romanian market. I am sure people in Romania would love to have this phone as well but please finish what you have started in the US. Anyone at Palm if reading please note.
I have been waiting for the Pre for about 6 months. I have to agree to some of the folks here that you get a lot more from sprint in servives as long as you are ok with putting up with their crappy customer service. I have never had verizon so I can't talk bad about them but I have have my experience with all the other major services. I would loved to have bought an iphone when they were new but not with AT&T even if it's free. I think Pre should do very well and just like someone mentioned here go to Best Buy and get the phone there as I bought a Black Berry there and didn't have to deal with Sprint at all for the rebates.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm in the market for a new phone and money isn't a limitation. I'm also not partial to any particular US carrier, but here are some of the features I'd like to have: WiFi, GPS, good coverage in lots of places, push Gmail (a must!), physical keyboard (a must!), a touchscreen, decent battery life and a relatively slim body. And please, nothing that has a fruit logo on it. No offense to the fruit fans, though. Thanks!"
