Android would, of course! Android would be so much better if it just included Android. Then you could run Android on Android on your phone.
But it does support multitouch. From the release notes:

MotionEvent can now report simultaneous-touch information for devices that support it. Up to three pointers can be tracked simultaneously.

So far, I think most of the devices released support simultaneous touch. So maybe Steel or another browser will give you pinch zoom.
It's not Sprint. It's that snappy Sense UI by HTC you're running.

IMO, HTC hasn't made Sense UI compatible with 1.6 because they're going for a direct jump from 1.5 to 2.0. That's my opinion, totally unfounded.
That is dependent on HTC making their Sense UI 2.0 compatible. This is why you haven't seen a 1.6 upgrade yet. It's not Google. It's not Sprint or whatever carrier. It's HTC. They haven't made Sense 1.6 compatible. Maybe they're just going to go from 1.5 to 2.0. Only HTC would know...

We've had 1.6 in the US for almost a month on G1 and MT3G phones. :)
Yeah, but the wording is just vague enough to plant that seed of doubt. Maybe if they said it's "...designed to support devices that use virtual keys..." "Run on" makes it sound exclusive to those devices.
And, in the release notes,

MotionEvent can now report simultaneous-touch information for devices that support it. Up to three pointers can be tracked simultaneously.

This includes support for multitouch on virtual keyboards, which would help me eliminate all those errors, should they push this out to legacy devices. That's multi-touch people. Now you won't sound like a gimp when playing tub thumper.
Looking through the release notes, I saw this:

"Android 2.0 is designed to run on devices that use virtual keys for HOME, MENU, BACK, and SEARCH, rather than physical keys."

Now, does this mean no legacy support for G1 or MT3G? If so, I know about a million or so people who are going to be pissed.... (myself included)
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm looking for a solid state drive, around 32 to 64GB, for use in my web server. The drive will contain my web sites and the operating system, either Windows Server 2008 R2 or Ubuntu. Large storage is handled by a separate RAID array, so capacity is not an issue. Rather, I am looking for the fastest, longest-lasting, and most reliable drive under $150 that is suitable to my application. Any thoughts? Thanks!"
