3G gives you faster data transfer (good when you surf on the web), GPS can be used free of charge (for Google or Nokia Maps for example)but you need to pay for a licence if you want to use the navigation software.
Ofcourse Nokia tried to negotiate with Apple first, they don't sue other companies for fun. Apple just needs to accept what all others have done in the mobile industry. All companies are cross-licencing with what technology they got, Apple was just trying to free-ride on other companies work. If Apple comes up with something others want then they can make their own cross-licencing deals with the other players.
The original phone was not killed, but the network (NMT) was shut down in the late 90s. Nice mod btw.
At least Q2 is better than Q1, also Nokia managed to increase market share compared with the first quarter (also in smartphones). Why do you even have the N97 in the picture? Only Q3 will tell how it did, it was not avalable almost anywhere in Q2. E75 would have been more approriate as it was launched just in the beginning of Q2.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm in the market for a new phone and money isn't a limitation. I'm also not partial to any particular US carrier, but here are some of the features I'd like to have: WiFi, GPS, good coverage in lots of places, push Gmail (a must!), physical keyboard (a must!), a touchscreen, decent battery life and a relatively slim body. And please, nothing that has a fruit logo on it. No offense to the fruit fans, though. Thanks!"
