What you are talking about is already on the Ford Fusion Hybrid. Its called "SmartGauge™ Cluster with EcoGuide".

It has a LCD instrument panel, to the right of the speedometer there is a little green tree. The better you drive the more leaves that grow on the tree.

What about Apple opening up iTunes and allowing advertising on it? Then we wouldnt have to pay $30/month per network.

At $30 a month PER NETWORK that will get expensive really fast, how many networks does it take to replicate a typical cable service?

You are right, all the 'New Look' part came with the 9.0 release. Engadget misread the release. Everything after the second bullet is from the 9.0 release.
AirMouse is an iPhone app that brings up a virtual track pad and keyboard on your phone and lets you control any computer over WiFi.

It's pretty slick, the whole screen of your iPhone is a multi-touch track pad with right/left click, scroll etc. You can then shake your phone and half the screen becomes a keyboard.
