Wow! Now I wish T-Mobile would follow suit !
See..Sprint sees more informed smartphone users prefer leading Operating systems like WinMo , Blackberry or even Palm OS. And they also know that they will not get new subscribers or more inventory at the ungodly $349 price point.

Deustche Telekom needs to make a phone call first thing tommorrow morning to corporate T-Mobile USA and tell them to do the same !

HTC Pro Touch 2 s will not move nor will T-Mo gain new subscribers (or renewed 2 yr agreements ..like my case) by trying to pawn off the phone at these prices.

Maybe it's time to look at Sprint.
Not interested. Now. If you were to allow customers freedom to choose their OS of choice, then it would be attractive.

T-Mobile. When are you going to lower the price of the HTC Dash 3G down to the reasonable level of say $120 ?

I thought servicer providers where in a "War" right now.

Well.. I'm not under any contract at the moment.
Maybe I should shop around.....
Crap!
I am not a Verizon customer but I ask: why would you put such a device on the market and muddy the waters (and experience) for newbie "wannabe" smartphone users by putting a device on the market that is "not all it can be" ?

I will never understand this.
Free on contract?
T-Mobile?
Ha..Not likely
Besides that. Show me a list of great Android apps currently available (TDAY)
Very good comment that probably speaks the truth that the majority "non-iphone" users probably don't possess a 3G handset yet. Scores of smartphone users are still using BBs or other smartphones that have not been upgraded yet.

But the question remains.. Do I buy a WinMo 6.5 phone now? Or do I hold out for WinMo 7?

Good example is U.S. T-Mobile which only has 1 or 2 WinMo smartphones (HTC Pro Touch 2 and HTD Dash 3G) in their line-up. And their prices for these phones even on a 2 year extended contract are outrageous. $349 and $169 respectively.

Personally , I have been eying the Dash 3G to upgrade from my old DASH.
But not at $169. Right now I have no contract and feel pretty good. My old Dash has been doing everything I need it to do with the exception of 3G and better memory/cpu for video processing.

Will I spend the extra $169 and committ to a 2 yr agreement just for these 2 features? Definitely not.

Will I spend $150 to $200 for an incredible WinMo smartphone with 7.0 , 3G, Snapdragon or equivalent type processor with more bells and whistles?
Probably yes.

Now it is all about timing.
I can see by giving in before the holdiays it will be less than 6 months later an entire new line-up of must have smartphones will burst wide open.

Today, many traditional non-smartphone , standard cell phone users are eyeing up smartphones as they go to renew contracts. Everyone from middle schoolers to Granny are jumping on the bandwagon. The Providers are seeing these trends and are now going hog wild on producing the next I-Phone Killer.

I just wish T-Mobile would get on-board and start offering more like ATT, SPRINt and Verizon are doing.
I wish folks at T-Mobile would focus on adding more 3G enabled phone choices to their very short menu of current offerings before rolling out LTE.
Why doesn't TMo have any blackberry 3G model?
Where are the fine choices for a subisdized Nokia smartphone?
Why in the heck does the HTC DASH 3G subsidized cost $170 when the same model on verizon or spint is half this?
Why are their only 2 choices in WinMo smartphones when there are more android models? I mean Android isn't even close with the APP choices that WINMO , Blackberry or Pal offer?

I mean c'mon...T_mobile
Give us more choice for handsets!
I think you will find you can attract more customers this way combined with your much better priced service plans!
Maybe to good to be true..
In fact, yes, if you consider limited applications when compared to other smartphone os'.
Looks like a great phone. But I would like to see Tmo get real on their prices for old standard smartphones like the Dash 3G for starters. Loyal (out of contract) customers like myself should be forced to pay $169 for a so-so no touch smartphone. Not especially when new subscribers can get for $49.
Haha..LOL
No offense. But you mean the kind of exclusivity that still exists between IPhone and ATT?

Unforutnate for ATT users up front...

T-Mobile .. YES.
The Samsung Omnia B7610 looks kinda sweet too. And Windows Mobile also good.
What price is that running? Carrier Subs?
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I own an iPhone 3G and I'm looking for a decent speaker / alarm clock for it. I am going to listen music in a mid-sized room, so I want nice quality speakers with solid bass. I also want to use it as an alarm clock, so it would be great if there is such a feature. The price can be low-mid to mid-high range. I was looking at the Klipsch iGroove SXT; it's powerful, slick and the reviews are good, but it doesn't have an alarm clock feature. It's no deal breaker if I can set it up from the iPhone, but I'm not sure. Thanks!"
