If you think Apple's the only company that does this, you're quite mistaken. At least Apple only does it once a year, rather than releasing new products throughout the year like some companies do.

Also, if Apple did the 2/3 year release cycle you wanted, everyone else would get the jump on them in the meantime.
Nice price... but does it still break if you look at it wrong?
Downloading HD videos sounds like a great idea, and my connection is certainly fast enough (14 Mbps).... However, with my ISP's monthly cap of 60GB, I can't download or stream all that many HD videos.

There's my problem with digital distribution.
Aside from the colour screen, it looks straight outta '98.
Not quite. It's not a matter of adjacency vs stacking, it's a matter of producing light vs absorbing light. RGB can be "stacked", just look at old 3-bulb projectors. Halftone printing also has many dots that are adjacent to each other, rather than on top of.

RGB works in the additive model, where light is produced. CMYK works in the subtractive model, where light is absorbed. (That's why you may notice there's no RGB printers.)

/went to art school
Maybe they're just practicing. Having CMYK display ability is going to become very important for e-ink displays, because RGB simply DOES NOT work for print and print-like media. (Yes, you can convert RGB signals to CMYK, but native applications are generally better.)
I HATE, HATE, HATE people leaving smudges on the screen. This is just one step further towards an everlasting nightmare.
Yes, Apple shouldn't release a new model iPhone this year. I guess Nokia, LG, Samsung, RIM, and Motorola shouldn't release new cellphones this year either. -_-
"The little black box will puke out a cloud of CDMA covering up to 5,000 square feet..."

I love the wording. Seriously.
Why the "i7"? A throwback, a tribute maybe. Those of us who cracked-open computers prior to the Pentium will remember seeing "i386" or "i486" on the CPU. "i" stood for "Intel", of course.

As for "WHY NOT PENTIUM NAEM!?", I'm personally glad to see that name gone. It implied 5th generation tech, the "586", which is long, long ago. Ya, the chips are related, but far more evolved. If you want to make that argument, why not i786?
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"With all the new multitouch capable monitors coming out, which one is the best? With the release of Windows 7 I really want a touchscreen monitor for my desktop. I'm looking to get a Full HD monitor that supports multitouch and can still look great during gaming and movies. Which one has the best specs for the price?"
