That is so sad.

Looks like the Apple store within a store at Best Buy. Honestly, this is a pitiful attempt at copying Apple. But - if we follow history, this is the Windows 386 version of the Apple store. Given about 10 years, this might be functional when MS Store 7 comes out.

Honestly Redmond, give it up.
You all are totally missing the point here. It's not about AT&T per se - it's about ANY carrier and the amount of money Apple garners from their relationship with these carriers.

Right now Apple is only making money on the percentage off the top of app sales, support contracts AND carrier kick back to the till. I would venture a guess that the revenue from AT&T to Apple outweighs that of any of the other legs of revenue and sure it's AT&T now, but soon to be VZW and whoever else. What's more, to keep that revenue stream alive, they need to do whatever they can to keep these carriers happy. There are billions of dollars at stake here, pissing off a handfull of people - no matter how large a handfull - is just too damned bad. It sucks, but welcome to big business.

What's more - even though the party line from AT&T is that "we have nothing to do with the app process" we all know how business operates - behind the scenes there are mega executives who talk offline and AT&T guy sez to Apple guy - "yea, we can't have this so kill it, but remember we can't be the bad guys, they all hate us already."

So in the end, the FCC will fuck it all up for everyone (hey it's the feds - only took US to get on HDTV about 15 years) and we'll all be even more misreable than before rather than just using the Cydia versions.
Google - I hope you see this!

Please consider open sourcing your code and allow some bright developer to recompile it and issue it via Cydia.

This is ridiculous and it infringes on my right to use the device I paid dearly for (and continue to). What's more, I-like many others I imagine-have no interest in evading tolls and will route my call through my cell phone, just to a different number.

Please release the sucker!

"This should be great news for all you folks having dust-under-screen issues on your first-gen Storms"
----------------------

yea, GREAT fucking news. Those of you with dust under the screen have two options - put up with that nonsense until your contract expires and watch the 2nd gen buyers laugh at you or pay list price for a replacement on a lousy design.

I bought a storm just to get on Verizon and keep some semblance of the iphone experience. Boy was that a mistake. Sure the network is great and I finally get great coverage, but the phone is being reflashed weekly to try and make it stable. Add to that dust, wobbly screen and memory drain from hell. Ok I'm done, gonna have a bneer to feel better.
@Tufo - Low? Lower? You looking in the same place I am?

Crap - Apple, you want to move units, make them approachable. $7,000 for a dual Quad core workstation without a drive array?

How about availability? RAID card - 7-8 weeks back ordered?

How about a RAID card that costs less than two Dell computers?

The pro Mac market has gone beyond ridicule. Shiny/glossy displays on laptops, no new mega displays, pro workstations that cost as much as a lot of cars. No wonder sales are down.
THIS is my favorite post plain and simple. Unless I don't win, then I don't like this post as much.
ATT - end the ass rape already. I have two phones on an account and with data and taxes it's $190 per month.

If you can't deliver a solid network connection to me - you can't.

and

If you aren't willing to deliver a femto cell without monthly service charges.

then

kiss my ass, time to go back to CDMA.
He should shut the fuck up already before states THAT ALREDY COLLECT SALES TAX adopt that nonsense on top. Here in Chicago we pay over 10% on most items in sales tax. Oregon big fat ZERO.

So you want revenue Mr. Kulongoski? Tax your sales!
Want to use this to reduce the piles of paper on my desk and never knowing where notes are.
What's with ANOTHER resistive screen? All I want is a solid competitor to the iPhone with capacitive touch. (other than a blackberry thank you very much).

So close.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"With all the new multitouch capable monitors coming out, which one is the best? With the release of Windows 7 I really want a touchscreen monitor for my desktop. I'm looking to get a Full HD monitor that supports multitouch and can still look great during gaming and movies. Which one has the best specs for the price?"
