"...iPhone is a perfect US phone industry mark stone...[snip]
...iPhone fits perfectly of the 80% US user!! (hit me if i am wrong :))"

I agree with you on these two points, but how are they relevant to the iPhone in the UK? This is Europe, the market is very different.
3 UK is even cheaper, GBP 5 per month which can be added to any tariff for "unlimited" data (1gb fair use).
@ Bad Beaver: Yeah sure, no-one uses MMS. Apart from the +1 million Britons every daily who use it to send picture messages.

"But apparently Google thinks the sites' names are similar enough that it is taking steps to protect its trademark."

Quite rightly so. 'j' is pronounced like the English 'y' in many languages.
"Is that a Nokia phone or are you just pleased to see me?"
Sorry... couldn't resist :p
"Just to lock you in"? Not sure if that's supposed to be sarcastic, if not then it's a tad unfair. For people who do use said Canon cameras, it's *great* for starters to not have to lug around yet another battery charger. For people who don't use Canon cameras, they'd be "locked in" just as much as they would with the Epson P-2000 etc.
Yeah... gotta admit it does look rather slick.
As they say: if you can't beat'em, join'em.
Also, is it just me or do the S series seriously look like Nikons? To be fair they all look pretty smart.
According to the press release, the Advanced Shake Reduction is an "algorithm", which implies it's not an optical stabiliser, but marketing babble for a high ISO mode (a la Casio). Guess we'll have to wait and see the full specs.

"The user can even take pictures whilst listening to music" - LOL, the joys of multitasking. Whatever next, checking emails whilst going to the toilet??
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I own an iPhone 3G and I'm looking for a decent speaker / alarm clock for it. I am going to listen music in a mid-sized room, so I want nice quality speakers with solid bass. I also want to use it as an alarm clock, so it would be great if there is such a feature. The price can be low-mid to mid-high range. I was looking at the Klipsch iGroove SXT; it's powerful, slick and the reviews are good, but it doesn't have an alarm clock feature. It's no deal breaker if I can set it up from the iPhone, but I'm not sure. Thanks!"
