i was at that verizon store and watched the female prisoner turn her back to the camera and start texting on her sidekick. so much for using the product you're trying to sell us.

and one of the guys admitted that the peek audience and blackberry audience wasn't the same so i think they knew that their whole demonstration was kind of idiotic.
no. it's presumed (confirmed?) to be a world edition phone like the blackberry 8830 meaning it uses cdma on verizon in the states and only has the gsm necessary for travel in europe. so even if you unlock the phone you won't have gsm service in the states. verizon and vodafone will carry the exact same hardware so then vodafone users can use their phone in the states.
#3 -- go to the alltel section of howardforums, people have been posting their feelings.
#1 -- the k1m does not have A2DP either does alltel's v3m, that was just a rumor.

and to engadget -- alltel made a mistake on their website with the thickness. it's not .98" but rather .66", .01" thinner than the k1m. direct from samsung: http://samsung.com/Products/MobilePhones/RegionalCarriers/Alltel/SCH_U520ZNAATL.asp?page=size_contents
after hearing all the gripes about this verizon version, i can't wait to get my hands on the phone from alltel on october 5th and enjoy the improved motorola ui and full functionality.
it's out for alltel right now - well, presale on their website. i know verizon is selling it online only right now, but for alltel it'll be out on october 5th (same day as verizon in store).
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just switched to Sprint from Verizon about three months ago for the Pre. Then I went for the Hero about a week ago. Now, I miss my hardware keyboard and am thinking about switching to the Moment. I am still able to switch back to Verizon if I want and get the Droid when it arrives. Should I just trade up to the Moment when it comes out, see if I like it, and if not switch to the Droid? Or something else entirely? Help!"
