The new sony connect software (called CP) is a HELL of a lot better than that junk they used to push on you (Sonicstage, Connect Player). I just upgraded from SS 3.4 to CP and everything works perfectly and more importantly, quickly and without crashing my computer. It still isn't where iTunes is, but its getting better. And with the w950i coming out with .oma support, it will be a no brainer for those Sonicstage suckers. A little bigger than a Nano with 4GB of flash goodness, A2DP and a PHONE!!!
cannot wait for the sony ericsson w950i to come out. it will make these types of devices meaningless (ipod, creative, etc). i mean who wouldn't want 4GB of GSM phone loving in their pockets (with bluetooth headphones to boot)?

as far as this post, M$ has some more work to do to match the elegant designs that are out there.
has anyone tried out the SonicStage CP? I downloaded it and it works wonderfully easy. I mean, I was afraid, but I loaded onto my laptop, searched for my old music, imported it all and there it was in my library. I also read that this phone will work with .oma files (i.e. sonicstage). That pretty much seals the deal for me...stunning...and sad to replace my w810 (wife is waiting to get her hands on it)...
if the Connect software is the same piece of crap as before...i'll pass. even if they have improved it, i'll pass...i still see no reason to have an mp3 player and a phone when you can combine them into one device. my w810i is the absolute best...
i would say that is an endorsement of blu-ray...the first format to get ripped...
wow!!! makes me re-think my gadget budget for the year...
i think there can be an iPod killer...but i don't think it will be MS. i believe that Sony Ericsson has already beaten everyone to the punch...

i have had an iPod, Sony NW-HD, and now an SE W810. Not having to carry around a cell and an mp3? That is the ticket. It is true freedom and the quality is just getting better...

when the w950i comes out...iPod will have something to deal with...touchscreen and 4GB flash with a GSM phone in a super sleek package?
RE#5. There is an update application in the phone that will search for the latest firmware from SE. You do not have to be plugged in to a PC or anything. It will update over the air. I tried it and the phone told me I had the latest firmware. I'll just make a habit of doing it every month....
I have had the W810 for about a month now and absolutely love it! You can get on eBay now for around $400 with a 512mb memory stick. I know not having the the AD2P sucks, but the headphones it came with are pretty damn good. The UI is amazingly easy and stunning in quality. SE has raised the bar on this one...I can't imagine what the w950 is going to be like.
I have the previous model and the upscaling over component is fantastic. The only complaint is the idiotic remote...get a universal remote to do the dirty work.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm in the market for a new phone and money isn't a limitation. I'm also not partial to any particular US carrier, but here are some of the features I'd like to have: WiFi, GPS, good coverage in lots of places, push Gmail (a must!), physical keyboard (a must!), a touchscreen, decent battery life and a relatively slim body. And please, nothing that has a fruit logo on it. No offense to the fruit fans, though. Thanks!"
