I meant to say the other networks run both 900mhz and 2100mhz networks.
Australia will be getting both the a and the i, the a will be for the Telstra network which runs 850mhz and while the i will be available on the other networks who run their 3G on 900mhz
Apple is just cutting the tow rope of a sinking ship. It's really not a surprise after Starbucks closed all it's stores here in Australia only last month. Why would Apple want to associate with a company who is going under.
I spoke with the Australian product manager only last week and he said it was on their slate to release this handset.
This phone has been available here in Australia for the last two weeks. Virgin are doing this free on a $30 cap with $140 included service. We are selling it for $500 outright if you take a $50 cap with $500 service for one month.
@nightflyer, Ha HA Ha your killing me. After seeing this I sent it to my contact who advised it IS a cruise. They however did not advise me weather it was un upgraded cruise or not.
My source at HTC HQ has told me that this handset is a Cruise with a different outer skin.
I have been selling the 6150 and 8150 for the last few weeks and have had no complaints. My contact at i-Mate tells me that the 8502 and 9502 are due out here by the end of the month. I am still waiting for the Jama 101 & 201 as they really cheap WM6 handsets.
It looks like everyone is on the hate wagon at the moment. I will be offering this like all other HTC handsets as they are good at what they do. Put simply from what I see it will offer GPS and win mob 6 at a more affordable price to niche customers who are only looking for these features. There is a market for nearly every phone or handsets like the Nokia 7600 would never have been released.
I can confirm 100% it is called to "Volan"
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just switched to Sprint from Verizon about three months ago for the Pre. Then I went for the Hero about a week ago. Now, I miss my hardware keyboard and am thinking about switching to the Moment. I am still able to switch back to Verizon if I want and get the Droid when it arrives. Should I just trade up to the Moment when it comes out, see if I like it, and if not switch to the Droid? Or something else entirely? Help!"
