could NEVER does this. I actually tried it about 1.5 years ago, I had whatever WM5 phone was hot on T-mobile(I think it was the Dash that has just come out) & for what was supposed to be a week I switched to a Nokia N series. I FREAKED OUT within HOURS lol. No e-mail, no qwerty, Just a multimedia phone, OMG whatever the bloody h#ll was I thinking!!! That evening I promptly swapped Sim cards again & sold the N on Ebay for more than what I paid for it! NEVER NEVER AGAIN, Need Qwerty & Email like I need air lol!!!
As a former Consultant for AT&T for a# of years I can assure you AT&T is NOT taking any sort of hit on the subsidized price of the iPhone. Think for a minute about all the NEW features that got LEFT out of the iPhone 3G in order to bring it in at the pricepoint. A Cheap camera, a cheap housing, NO MMS, & NO A2DP. Here you can purchase other phones that have those features for LESS than the "subsidized" iPhone price. TRUST me when I tell you AT&T will be laughing all the way to the bank. Sounds to me that by putting the earnings drop speculation out there they they are trying to push the stock price down some in order to sell more shares. They've done it before, certainly would NOT put it past them to do it again. The no OTA music downloads SUCKS profusely, you can get that feature on a B.S. carrier like Verizon or pay $15.00 monthly to zune & get unlimited music, but Apple which has the biggest music store on the planet cannot seem to get these moronic record companies to understand the goldmine they are sitting on?
Dude that is SWEET looking!!!! WTH did THAT come from???? OMG that is sick!!!! MUST KNOW MORE!!!
ACtually I don't think it's about "hating" Palm. The past 4-5 years or so they have REALLY made some poor decisions about the quality & the features of the merchandise they put out. As a result a market where Palm used to have some dominance, the pda/smartphone market, they now a living hand to mouth in. I used to LOVE Palm & then the Treo 650 came out with all is constant memory issues & the the hideous 700w & 700wx & then the CENTRO??? WTF where they thinking. Their entire R&D staff needs to be hauled out by their cajones & SHOT.
Actually I know someone who was planning on upgrading to an ID from one of those cheap crappy Samsungs this week!!! She can't afford the $300 for a new sidekick so I am guessing I will have to help her try & find an ID or she will have to upgrade to something else because her red samsung is on its way to brickdom!! She will be pissed when I tell her!
Well in theory the idea is sound, but the execution itself is quite horrific. I think it should be as simple as entering a password & the shutter locks covering up the camera or even better use those wonderful BES policies that we are all so fond of & do the security check that way. Anything other than this key craziness. Or what about a biometrics style lock, you know like the fingerprint readers that are so popular on laptops these days? SOMETHING ANYTHING but the key craziness!!!
Seriously I MISS my ocean & I miss Helio!! This breaks my heart to see their losses so high. They really are a great company, their phones rock, & their data services are second to NONE. & until everyone ELSE started coming out with their unlimited plans Helio was the only one rocking the unlimited for under $100. I had to switch over to sprint when it became to crazy trying to carry a work phone & a fun phone. sniff sniff, I hope they can pull out. Everyone that approached me when I had my ocean wanted one ASAP & at least 60% bought one just from my word of mouth!!! sniff sniff.....
To be perfectly honest this was expected by many. Apple wants to say competitive & as great as the iPhone is currently it just was NOT going to continue to compete without 3G! Now I may actually spend the money & get one. Edge was crawling with a snail in the lead!!!!
Actually when I was an Implementation Mgr at Cingular before it joined forces with AT&T they used to closed their stores for training all the time. BUT they did it in blocks so most people did not notice. You'd have a group just NOT open at 0800 then another would close at 1100 etc. We all know this is about the new unlimited plans because everyone is popping them out. These carriers are some serious bitters lol Helio has had unlimited at this price point for months already & even before that lol. Sigh just when Helio was starting to gain some more ground, here come the monopoly boys. But for the people who do have those carriers I know you are some happy people these days lol!!!
What's the point of it having better video with such an ANEMIC processor? There out to be a LAW lol!!! SAD!!!
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I own an iPhone 3G and I'm looking for a decent speaker / alarm clock for it. I am going to listen music in a mid-sized room, so I want nice quality speakers with solid bass. I also want to use it as an alarm clock, so it would be great if there is such a feature. The price can be low-mid to mid-high range. I was looking at the Klipsch iGroove SXT; it's powerful, slick and the reviews are good, but it doesn't have an alarm clock feature. It's no deal breaker if I can set it up from the iPhone, but I'm not sure. Thanks!"
