Curious, when the keyboard lights up, it reminds me of a Treo. I guess when BlackBerry relocated its navigation tool to the middle of the device, the BlackBerry is losing some of its uniqueness and becomes one of the members of the smartphone world.
Okay. That would make it almost on par with Nokia's E61. Almost because I do not think this will support 3G.
Sorry, still suffering the iPhone hangover. Sure, the 8800 is nice (happy to see the full keyboard) but it is not that exciting anymore.
To be honest, I wonder whether the Pearl launching
problem was really Cingular's fault. When the Samsung BlackJack was launched, I did not hear any
similar issue. All I heard was the BlackJacks were selling like hot cakes on the launch day. Apple may get the same kind of special treatment from Cingular.
What is this free push IMAP e-mail? Is this the P-IMAP which is new e-mail standard. That probably is why Yahoo/Apple can offer it for free.
All I can say:

Melissa, do you feel insulted by RIM's lawyers? They seem to imply RIM's customers are seriously intellectually challenged. They believe we cannot tell the BlackJack sports a QWERTY keyboard and the Pearl does not. They think we spell "BlackBerry" as "SAMSUNG" because those are the letters we can see dead centered on the BlackJack.

I have seen the latest commercial of the BlackJack. It is promoting the device as being fun. Does that infringe BlackBerry's trademark? Would the same person who confuses the Pearl with the BlackJack also get confused by the Black Moto Q sitting side by side with the Pearl?
I think we are overcomplicating things here. The name of this device starts with "Black" because it is, quite frankly, BLACK! From all the pictures I have seen, this device is always "Black". It is more "black" than a BlackBerry (Pearl, for example). If Samsung was calling this phone "BlackCherry" or "BlackPearl" or "BlackPerry", I would say Samsung was definitely trying to confuse the market.

Give some credits to the people who want a smart phone. They ARE intelligent people so they want an intelligent device to be more productive.

Only two types of profession wish people were retarded: politicians and lawyers. Please don't give them the opportunity to prove that they are right.

Write letters to RIM, tell them how much you love their devices. Tell them to get rid of some of their lawyers and hire more engineers so people will keep buying their leading edge devices.
I thought it was always RIM's tactic to sue its competitors. Didn't RIM sue Palm and Good for patent infringement? It was backfired when NTP sued RIM.

Until today, I did not really think Samsung's BlackJack was a competition to BlackBerry. Perhaps I should take a closer look of the product if RIM is worrying about it.

I hope no one will pick up the BlackJack and say "Hey, look at this new BlackBerry device called 'Samsung'". I guess anything can happen....
May I suggest someone from Cingular should drive to Canada and bring back some cheap Pearls.

It is just too painful seeing all these posts predicting when the Cingular Pearls will be available.
Well, this hacking thingy is like the Da Vinci Code thingy. The "Aye" side will always have their secret sources and theories, the "Nay" side will always condemn the other side to be idiots.

My stand: Pour out your theories and see if they have legs to stand on.

My promise: No name calling if your hypothesis is not ready for the big time.

Moog is right because e-mail is vulnerable. This spam problem can happen to any corporations or carriers. It is just easier to spam when the mail addresses are centralized under blackberry.net and blackberry.com. If someone is targeting these two addresses, I guess they can cover all BIS users in the world.

I think Moog described only one of the possible scenarios. One of our computer guys said a corporate mail server could be hacked and turned into a spam relay. He said it should be easy to spot because of the volume spike of e-mails going in and out of the company.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"With all the new multitouch capable monitors coming out, which one is the best? With the release of Windows 7 I really want a touchscreen monitor for my desktop. I'm looking to get a Full HD monitor that supports multitouch and can still look great during gaming and movies. Which one has the best specs for the price?"
