We're all on the same wavelength... I want to be able to set profiles. So, if I'm unplugged, go "grey mode", as you refer to it. But, if I start up Safari, go ahead and connect on 3G. If I start up maps, turn on 3g and location. Turn them back off when I'm through. Weather... Eh, don't bother turning on 3G, it goes quick enough. If I'm charging, go ahead and turn on wi-fi. Or turn on wi-fi depending on my location. You get the idea!

"I've found myself using my PC for a lot of conversations lately, and I'm also considering recording a podcast to share with anyone who will listen. There are tons of USB headset / microphones out there, and I'm hoping someone has some solid recommendations based on experience. I'll consider both headsets and standalone mics, by the way, but I'd like to keep the bill under $100 if possible. Help!"
