The question is "why did they have to diverge in the first place"?

In the Pre, Palm made a web-powered device which is much more Google-like and Chrome-like than Android is.

It seems like Google lacks something which keeps these diverse technical projects heading in the same direction.

Discipline!

Will Nokia still have any market share left in 2015?
In terms of profitability Apple have just passed them.

My main use of the AppleTV is to stream movies from a file server in the basement. This means using hacked software on the AppleTV.

I avoid these updates, because they require more hackery.

This is dramatically better than the statically-balanced, ASIMO-style walking.

Asimo walks like an old person with some kind of toilet accident.

The cellphone market renews devices every 18months.
If Nokia don't have products that will retain customers - their market share can go from 50% to 0% really really fast.

The unique selling point of the camera is 1080p 24fps video.
But the 1080p video is currently un-usable. It's over compressed and the images are filled with a muddy lack of visual detail. The AVCHD codec seems to handle low-contrast detail by flattening it completely.

Either up the bitrate, or create a better solution.

Really needs fixing.

And then all those loyal N97 discover that their top-of-the-line phone, has suddenly been replaced by the N900
As part of Nokia's latest "Symbian is yesterday's news" campaign.

By way of comparison. Would someone kindly print the OS X upgrade matrix?

What do you mean "only one cell"?
What do you mean by "keep all your files and settings"?

I'd prefer to reserve judgement about this until we have at least seen some actual footage.

On paper the GH1 is very interesting.
But the compression renders the footage unusable.

The tablet story gets less credible with each twist.

No one wants a pocket device which too big for a pocket.
No one wants to run desktop apps on a 10" screen.

If Apple has a device like this, then they are targeting some unique selling point we do not know about yet.

Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just switched to Sprint from Verizon about three months ago for the Pre. Then I went for the Hero about a week ago. Now, I miss my hardware keyboard and am thinking about switching to the Moment. I am still able to switch back to Verizon if I want and get the Droid when it arrives. Should I just trade up to the Moment when it comes out, see if I like it, and if not switch to the Droid? Or something else entirely? Help!"
