Data Plans and Features (such as NationalAccess, BroadbandAccess, GlobalAccess, and certain VZEmail services that do not include a specific monthly MB allowance or are not billed on a pay-as-you-go basis) may ONLY be used with wireless devices for the following purposes: (i) Internet browsing; (ii) email; and (iii) intranet access (including access to corporate intranets, email, and individual productivity applications like customer relationship management, sales force, and field service automation). These Data Plans and Features MAY NOT be used for any other purpose. Examples of prohibited uses include, without limitation, the following: (i) continuous uploading, downloading, or streaming of audio or video programming or games; (ii) server devices or host computer applications, including, but not limited to, Web camera posts or broadcasts, automatic data feeds, automated machine to-machine connections or peer-to-peer (P2P) file-sharing; or (iii) as a substitute or backup for private lines or dedicated data connections. This means, by way of example only, that checking email, surfing the Internet, downloading legally acquired songs, and/or visiting corporate intranets is permitted, but downloading movies using P2P file-sharing services and/or redirecting television programming content for viewing on laptops is prohibited. A person engaged in prohibited uses continuously for one hour could typically use 100 to 200 MB, or, if engaged in prohibited uses for 10 hours a day, 7 days a week, could use more than 5 GB in a month.

We reserve the right to limit throughput speeds or amount of data transferred, and to deny or terminate service, without notice, to anyone we believe is using one of these Data Plans or Features in any manner prohibited above or whose usage adversely impacts our network or service levels. Anyone using more than 5 GB per line in a given month is presumed to be using the service in a manner prohibited above, and we reserve the right to immediately terminate the service of any such person without notice. We also reserve the right to terminate service upon expiration of Customer Agreement term.

And I have to ask, which cell provider has the best phones? It ain't T-Mobile, and AT&T has the I-Phone and Blackjack but what else?

Oh, and VZW doesn't block any features on their PDA's.

Umm.. WM is on the Moto Q from VZW. not sure if it's any different from the Blackjack thing AT&T has. VZW has the Blackberry 8830 Global Phone and the Blackberry 8703e. Also the Treo 700p is not so bad, and the Treo 700wx.. hmm.. Nothing earth-shattering, but not so bad...

Ah, the games people play. If you want out, pay the ETF, and you're done. Or, stick around fot the 2 years you signed up for in the first place. Why do people act like contracts never apply to them? So, there are times when the rate change has an effect, and times when it doesn't. If you never text or have a package, how does this have an effect? If you're offered credits for the 5 cents, then how are you affected? I assume you've been able to make voice calsl over the past 2 years. If not, you can get out for coverage issues.
Funny thing is, VZW and Cingular have the same rates and similar coverage. The others have smaller coverage, and the rates aren't much different. It's actually pretty rare that one has a perticular need to switch providers, but hey.. whatever...

For those interested in the IM, VZW now has Unlimited in with 5000 out of network for the same $20 price, so double the text!

So, Apple went to Verizon wireless first. Makes sense in the more widely available 3G market. No point in havign thsi phone on a slow network. As with anyting, the first time you launch a product, you want to go local. See how it seels. Then, you go global. It's rare that a phone is exclusive to a provider forever. So, why not go with the "most reliable" thing and see how it takes off?

And, as stated in the previous post, to assume Apple can't make CDMA and GSM is kind of insane. Every other phone manuacturer does. Otherwise, why does any manufacturer make a CDMA phone?

As far as number of subscribers, that's always a difficult thing. Are we talking domestic, global... voice users, data users, what is our target?

I would think Apple was going for domestic data users. Almost suprised Spritn wasn't a first choice. They're trying to find the biggest splash they can find...

Either way, it's expensive as heck. There will always be people to buy it, but 10 million seems awful high. I question fi this phone will do well in Japan and Europe, where much better phones are already available.
