Urk. I'm a bit annoyed that there aren't more Windows phones coming out in 2009. I've got a Vogue that's lost it's screen sensitivity, and nothing to upgrade to... don't really want the Touch Pro 2: too rich for my blood. I don't really need the super snappy Snapdragon processor and WinMo 7, I just need something good enough NOW to spend my upgrade credit on (and, yeah, I'm SERO, so I've got to stick with WinMo, no Android or Palm for me)...
Isn't it time for an HTC WinMo phone with a 3.5" screen? I refuse to switch to the iPhone, but I'm getting tired of dealing with teeny-tiny virtual keyboards and itsy-bitsy font sizes so I can cram a decent amount of my spreadsheet onto the screen real estate.
I've followed the rise of the Touch-interface handset for more than a year now, and after serious research, this is the phone for me.

I've had the Touch for about 3 weeks now and love it. Once you've (easily)customized your HTC tabbed home screen, you can navigate around like lightening.

I've played with friends' iPhones, and I prefer my Touch. Even out of box (no 3rd party apps), my calendar and contact info is already better organized and presented than it would have been with an iPhone. (And when I get Agenda Fusion on there, it's going to be perfect: I'll have my color coded categories back!).

The keyboard takes a little longer to get speedy with than the iPhone's. (I'd say a week, vs. a couple of days with the iPhone), but once you get past that week, it's great.

I've got my Pocket Word and Excel, so I can edit documents on the fly.

I haven't purchased a headset yet, but everyone on the forums is pairing up bluetooth with zero problems.

Yes, Safari is better than either Pocket Internet Explorer or Opera Mini. And the Windows Media Player isn't ideal (although now that I've got my playlists set up, it's really not an issue).

But the Touch is actually smaller, truly pocketable, and because of all the wonderful people out there developing third party apps, I have a funny feeling the user-friendly gap is going to get bridged very quickly.

That's not even mentioning the faster EVDO data. And the affordable SERO voice/data/text plan.

It took more than a year for the right phone for me to hit the market, but for me, this is it.
Unfreakin' believable. I've been waiting and hoping for the Touch on Verizon. Sprint? Sprint is not the favorite service provider (reliability-wise) in New York City. Bummer. Now I'm going to have to go back into service-provider research mode... I'd always just left Sprint entirely off the list.
Yup. I use cut and paste. I pull strands of text out of emails or off the internet and pop them into the notes section of my appointments when I have client meetings... pithy reminders of things I wanted to discuss, appended right where I won't miss them. (I'm not getting an iPhone (at least yet) because the calendar doesn't work for me.) My 2 cents.
Looking forward to the absolutely do-able data plan prices. And having ONE device to manage my mobile life/entertainment, instead of three.
Wow. When the higher data price rumors were floating around, I had been getting ready to say "forget it, do I really need data service that bad?" but this seems affordable. I'm not lining up on Friday -- I'm going to need to wait until the reviews come in -- but Apple & AT&T have found a price point that'll get me on a data plan. Bye, bye Verizon!
I am SO curious about the data plan prices. C'mon, it's Edge, not 3G (and yes, I admit, the only reason I know there's a difference is because I started following the whole convergence device hype last October as the iPhone/LG Prada rumors started flying). I just can't imagine that MASSES of people are going to pay the $600 up front for the device, and then another $39.99 monthly for the data plan (standard rate for "PDA device" data plans on Cingular/now AT&T) not to mention whatever you're paying for your voice plan. So if they're thinking this is going to be a device that merits hiring 2,000 extra salespeople, I hope they're not thinking they can double dip with an expensive device AND expensive plan. Just saying...
That is insanely beautiful. And only 16.4 mm fat? Way too feature laden (read: expensive) for me, and of course, way too gorgeous to actually make it to the good ole U.S., but a girl can dream. [Sigh.]
Hmmm -- this may be the one I've been waiting for... I'm not a "power user" but I do need to keep my calendar with me all the time, and would love to trade in my three (iPAQ, iPod, ancient Kyocera mobile) devices for one. But I'm sure NOT paying Prada prices for it. Would rather wait for the 2nd (3rd?) gen iPhone to get all nice and reasonably priced.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just switched to Sprint from Verizon about three months ago for the Pre. Then I went for the Hero about a week ago. Now, I miss my hardware keyboard and am thinking about switching to the Moment. I am still able to switch back to Verizon if I want and get the Droid when it arrives. Should I just trade up to the Moment when it comes out, see if I like it, and if not switch to the Droid? Or something else entirely? Help!"
