Wow, how to confuse everyone still using XP and Napster happily...
I don't think the OLPC will work too well in Nigeria. From what I can see, there's no Caps Lock key for them to use before writing emails...
DT is Deutsche Telekom -- a massive telecoms organisation. DT subsidiaries include all the T-Mobile providers, including the US.
Indeed. A replacement key for my Audi is about 120 quid (~$245) alone. Let alon the price of cutting 5 house keys. Bargain...!

Trsust me Pepper, you'll watch a whole load more than 2-3 minutes of commercials in a one hour show. This was most noticable to me when watching '24' on the BBC. Somehow each hour of 24 only took up 45 mins on commerical-free BBC!

But then rebranding 24 as 18 for the BBC might not have worked too well. Still, at least Jack get's some sleep...
God damn it. Mine has only just been shipped. Not expected to arrive until Monday. How come I miss out on all the fun...

Maybe because mine is the (almost) free upgrade (MBP less than a month old), I get lower priority.
The French use the term wifi (pronounced wee-fee). It still makes me chuckle whenever I hear a frenchman saying it. But not as much as I chuckled when they lost the rugby!

The only feature that's carrier specific is the Visual Voicemail. If you ca live without that, then you can run it on any network.

The only reason for Apple to lock these things to a carrier is their business model (nothing to do with making things simpler for the customer, as they'd have it). Apple are taking between 10 and 40% (if you believe the rumours about O2 in the UK) of customer revenue for each iPhone user. Obviously, if Apple have no agreement with the other carriers, Apple will get ongoing revenue from the iPhones. Hence their desire to 'break' the unlocking each time they update the firmware.
Anyone know if there's a UK version of this? There doesn't appear to be anything on the UK Apple site. Hmmm, my reseller convinced me 2 weeks ago that I'd be okay...
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I own an iPhone 3G and I'm looking for a decent speaker / alarm clock for it. I am going to listen music in a mid-sized room, so I want nice quality speakers with solid bass. I also want to use it as an alarm clock, so it would be great if there is such a feature. The price can be low-mid to mid-high range. I was looking at the Klipsch iGroove SXT; it's powerful, slick and the reviews are good, but it doesn't have an alarm clock feature. It's no deal breaker if I can set it up from the iPhone, but I'm not sure. Thanks!"
