This is truly an epic smackdown. However, I feel the need to make a point here: If you are coming to Engadget Mobile for high-quality journalism and unbiased reviews, you're bound for a lifetime of disappointment.
Why not respond to the wi-fi claim? Seems like a worthy topic of discussion... unless of course you just wanted to bash AT&T in a one-sided snark attack, and weren't actually willing to do any research beyond "my friend told me his internet is slow, too."

"and we're having a hard time arguing with personal experience."

If you consider yourself a journalist, this is part of the job description. Yes, even in an editorial.
"We also had lower churn -- a sign that customers are quite happy with the service they receive."

No ... no it does not.
Still, $5 over 24 months is $120. That makes the CLIQ $80 compared to the $200 Droid.

This is pretty basic math people: more money is more money, whether you pay it on the front or over the life of the contract. Verizon isn't cutting you a deal because they care about you, it's because you are dim enough to think that $5 a month over 2 years isn't much money. They are in it for the signature on the contract, while you are in it for the shiny new toy. Advantage Verizon.

All that said, T-Mobile needs to knock it off with the toy phones and get some kick ass hardware. coughN900cough
This is supposed to be a game changer, and they can't even match the grandfathered plan that I have. 2 lines, 1000 minutes, 400 texts each, $60. I'd have to lose my phone subsidies, drop 250 minutes AND pay an extra $10 and the only benefit would be unlimited texts, which I don't need.
Not sure if the key entry is lagging or if it's just a classic case of out-of-sync audio on a Youtube vid.
"Learn to: Make [and] receive ... calls on your Palm Pre" ???

Step 1: Place phone back into box.
Step 2: Return to store.
Step 3: Admit to clerk you are too stupid to own such a powerful piece of hardware, and ask to see the old people phones, with the 3 big buttons.
Because, like most bloggers, he's overstocked with reactionary opinions and fresh out of facts and reasoned analysis. These people are getting $100+ for what for most should be considered a minor inconvenience. Get a G1 for $29 with your gift card and never worry about it again.
I like the part where you judge the touchscreen without ever having used it.
It does support T-Mobile's 3G band. There is only one other phone (Pharos Traveler 137) released with those bands that WASN'T subsidized by T-Mobile (and even that had some under-the-table subsidies), so it's likely that it'll end up on T-Mobile. I've heard various rumors that it will be in the early months of 2010, but obviously T-Mobile is pushing the CLiQ and Nokia is trying to sell them unlocked, so neither is willing to answer the question. The real question is whether or not T-Mobile is going to cripple this thing. I can see 32GB of internal memory down to 8 or 16. I mean, T-Mobile thinks the TouchPro2 is worth $350, what in the hell are they going to charge for THIS?!? Add in the mandatory data plan ($600) and you might just be better off buying unlocked and getting whatever data plan suits your needs.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just switched to Sprint from Verizon about three months ago for the Pre. Then I went for the Hero about a week ago. Now, I miss my hardware keyboard and am thinking about switching to the Moment. I am still able to switch back to Verizon if I want and get the Droid when it arrives. Should I just trade up to the Moment when it comes out, see if I like it, and if not switch to the Droid? Or something else entirely? Help!"
