"Firmware" update... you need to take it in... the capability of *228-ing these updates is coming... but for now you'll need to take it to the store for a manual update...

... meanwhile, the "revolutionary" iPhone has had ump-teen updates to it already when it was supposed to be this amazing thing at launch... yeah, check out that cnet review... nough said.

That's mostly true... the individual companies do make the phones, but VZW tells them what to make... ie. the Voyager!

Who cares? What's the big deal? Seriously?... OMG! You mean VZW might target me for stuff I don't have to buy, but maybe it might be something I actually want?... I'm sure I'm just dumb on this one, but I guess I'm not seeing what the big scare is here? Anyone want to help me with that?

Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just switched to Sprint from Verizon about three months ago for the Pre. Then I went for the Hero about a week ago. Now, I miss my hardware keyboard and am thinking about switching to the Moment. I am still able to switch back to Verizon if I want and get the Droid when it arrives. Should I just trade up to the Moment when it comes out, see if I like it, and if not switch to the Droid? Or something else entirely? Help!"
