Full Circle is already doing this, for free. It's a full console environment for your HTPC and includes Boxee, for free:

Oh, and that whole bit about making your PC into an embedded gaming console, too. We're all for Boxee Box as an option, but it isn't the only option for bypassing Windows, and having a cheap HTPC/Boxee connector.

It's not a missed opportunity. It's Sony addressing the elephant in the room: OnLive just doesn't work. Remote Play can't fix the physics of the internet.

@Eric, yes, but as I noted in the comment cross-post below, the rebate is instant... unlike Sprint's.

I don't know how the one-day effect will go over though. I don't think Sprint will enjoy all these $99 false-starts. It's going to make buyers wait.

I have to agree with the snake oil assertions. I watched the video... and the Crysis "deathmatch" was really just a lot of walking around, and then positioning people next to each other to shoot themselves.

If you call that a real world scenario, I have a few Phantom consoles that play a mean game of solitaire to sell you.

Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.

"I just switched to Sprint from Verizon about three months ago for the Pre. Then I went for the Hero about a week ago. Now, I miss my hardware keyboard and am thinking about switching to the Moment. I am still able to switch back to Verizon if I want and get the Droid when it arrives. Should I just trade up to the Moment when it comes out, see if I like it, and if not switch to the Droid? Or something else entirely? Help!"
