You won't find one...no panel manufacturer produces LCD panels that size that aren't 16:9 aspect ratio. Unfortunately it seems 16:10 is going the way of the dodo. I miss my extra space too :-(

No, I didn't confuse it at all. I was poking fun at some of the faults of the MBP, and pointing out the reason the reviewer thought it compared aesthetically is because it looks nearly identical to it. Had it come from a no-name in China, they probably would have slapped a KIRF label on it.

As for the answer to your question, I would say the most recent series of Asus gaming laptops are some of my favorites. The Dell Studio XPS laptops are pretty slick too. HP has some AMD Neo low cost thin computers that are black with chrome edges that look pretty slick, too. I've seen a lot of other laptops I like better, I just don't keep track of models.

Now you may be appalled by the laptops I claim are aesthetically superior to the MBP, but apparently you stopped reading my post halfway through and missed this key part: "..and realize other people think differently and have different opinions." I seriously like those laptops I mentioned better than the MBP. And I know others think they are plastic abominations. My point is, aesthetics are not universal, and people reviewing laptops should keep that in mind and check their bias at the door.

Much of the data crunched through the big supercomputers is floating point calculations anyway, so while it has limitations, it works for more things than it does not.
"it's the first PC we've seen that really equals the MacBook Pro's unibody design"

Yeah, aside from the design on the top and that pesky break so you can remove the battery, it looks just like it.

Personally, I realize aesthetics are far from absolutes, and I recognize many laptops as being superior in design to the MBP, and realize other people think differently and have different opinions. But I'm not responsible for writing reviews that are presumably supposed to be unbiased, so what do I know?

It's the same type of engine used in virtually all jet-powered aircraft, and while technically inaccurate, using the word 'jet' helps the majority of the readership understand what it is better.

So basically, no need to be an elitist anal ass about it.
It's a good thing Engadget doesn't have text to speech. Can you imagine how loud would the GIGANTIC ANNOYING nook review top banner would be shouting? Something 800 pixels in height really means it.
Someone has to say it: Batmobile
No problems here on the network I manage of about 80 systems, mostly XP and Vista, but with a few 7's trickled about. We push the updates to all systems over the weekend after patch Tuesday, so they should all have the latest.

I would guess there are probably just a few specific programs giving it trouble. I've got my money on some pointless bullshit auto-update program.
@SamUK

Likely, but I would say more likely is a WinMo app, because Asus' own PDA phones have been running WinMo for years.
Funny, mine can't.

It will suspend the data call and let you pick up where you left off if you get a voice call, however. And you can do it with WiFi, or a VOIP service.

In my years of WinMo phones, I have yet to run into a situation where this has come up, but I will admit I am a very light talker (~150 min a month, including anytime).
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm looking for a solid state drive, around 32 to 64GB, for use in my web server. The drive will contain my web sites and the operating system, either Windows Server 2008 R2 or Ubuntu. Large storage is handled by a separate RAID array, so capacity is not an issue. Rather, I am looking for the fastest, longest-lasting, and most reliable drive under $150 that is suitable to my application. Any thoughts? Thanks!"
