My gf works for Verizon marketing and said that the 1 Million sold does NOT take into account all of the phones that were returned by unhappy customers..
Yeah, that video is clearly trying to motivate Verizon employees, but if you do some searching, you can find a few videos showing a clear demonstration of the UI on this new phone, and the lack of a good touch-screen experience. I think that like most of these launches, the hype will build until people actually get their hands on it.
Yeah, 2.1 has greatly improved my 3G reception - I have 5 bars now most of the time! No dropped calls, much faster sync time, smoother, faster applications, no lag when opening contacts - all in all, very impressed. Clearly, there are a lot of opinions on this device - its funny how most of the comments I have read on this site have been positive towards this update, yet some of the articles just try to emphasize anything negative (God forbid Apple puts out a decent product)! Otherwise, the negative comments are usually from those who don't even own the device, but want to whine anyway...
Awful. A Ming with Verizon software - just what we need - another crappy, crippled phone.. My decision to cross over to at&t for the iphone is gettin easier.
Hideous. And the Verizon UI does suck, thats why people keep saying it. Its pokey, counter-intuitive, and it takes 20 clicks to do anything (and by anything, I mean one of the very limited functions that VZW actually allows you to do)....
pick me please - i have a new Upstage and miss my motorola!!! Trade?
I LOVE ENGADGETMOBILE.COM!!!!!!! Pick Me!!! ;)
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm in the market for a new phone and money isn't a limitation. I'm also not partial to any particular US carrier, but here are some of the features I'd like to have: WiFi, GPS, good coverage in lots of places, push Gmail (a must!), physical keyboard (a must!), a touchscreen, decent battery life and a relatively slim body. And please, nothing that has a fruit logo on it. No offense to the fruit fans, though. Thanks!"
