Yeah... because open source has such a track record of killing close environments. I mean look, everyone now in days use a variant of linux, barely anyone uses windows anymore.
this is why i "love/trust" Engadget, because you guys some how know what Jobs is thinking, what he has seen and what he has in store for us. Journalism at its best.
eh.. some people call it a bad habit i call it my retirement plant. It make sure I retire ahead of time.
you're so clever... (wait for it..) NOT!!

next go around save time by just typing "i hate everything apple for just being apple blah blah blah."
for some one with over 60 billion dollars this is barely an effort. 250K low cost laptops? pfft..
after 300-400 cycles it decreases to 80% which still better than current smartphones. the reality is that most people will move on to a new generation before a replacement becomes a necessity just like it has been happening with the iPod and the once getting replacements will only be the ones with defective batteries. There is a lot of disinformation about the iPhone. I've heard everything from, "it only plays iTunes Music" to you have to press really "hard on the screen" or the most famous one "Your battery will completely die in a year"
wrong. CD's are (close to) dead because of lack convenience. You can get song/album without ever leaving the couch, you can start listening to your music within seconds, and you can have it on your iPod/mp3 player right away.
The majority of people don't care about sampling rate or bitrate. they can't even tell you what those words even mean. As long as it sounds good in their computer speakers or DMP headphones they'll be satisfied.
If you can't understand that then your just out of touch with the rest of consumers. Not necessarily a bad thing.
This was done by choice. The gaming indunstry wanted to cater more to the investors than its customers. How fun
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just switched to Sprint from Verizon about three months ago for the Pre. Then I went for the Hero about a week ago. Now, I miss my hardware keyboard and am thinking about switching to the Moment. I am still able to switch back to Verizon if I want and get the Droid when it arrives. Should I just trade up to the Moment when it comes out, see if I like it, and if not switch to the Droid? Or something else entirely? Help!"
