It also looks like they will lock out existing cingular customers who are not "eligible" for an update. This has been a mixed bag, no confirmed info, but there normal policy is such. If so, SO STUPID.

ANynone have any info on this?
I read over at Engadget Mobile where they posted Cingular internal FAQ that the phone will be available to new and exisiting customers. Can we assume that existing customers will have to pay a non contract price or maybe $499/$599 is the price. Considering apple is selling it in their stores, i doubt they are going to be checking contract status. Maybe you buy it in apple's store and then either call for a new account or just throw your sim in if you are an existing cingular customer and just call to change your dataplan.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just switched to Sprint from Verizon about three months ago for the Pre. Then I went for the Hero about a week ago. Now, I miss my hardware keyboard and am thinking about switching to the Moment. I am still able to switch back to Verizon if I want and get the Droid when it arrives. Should I just trade up to the Moment when it comes out, see if I like it, and if not switch to the Droid? Or something else entirely? Help!"
