To answer that question is somewhat difficult atm. Reason being is word is VZW policy will be changing upon release of there Andriod devices. Currently tho tethering falls under a specific data plan which IMO is way over priced. However there are ways to get around it if you are willing to spend a little time doing research. Back in the days of owning my Razr v3c I had it hooked up to my laptop for tethering and was only charge mins and no data fee. However since then they blocked that hole so it no longer can be done. Plus they changed calling plan since then and data fees to bill for transmitted usage unlike before when you just had mobile web service and while online it was just chewing up your mins from the calling plan. So in those days if you used it say at night or weekends it costed you nothing to do it. Now as another example tho like on the current device I'm using which runs WinMob 6.1 and has built in Wifi. I have a program called WMWifirouter which allows me to use the VZW network and hook up any Wifi device to route threw my cell and have data. Son loves it when in the car and he has his iTouch hooked up to it or his laptop playing Wow while I drive.

Bottom line is until we know there new policy after Andriod devices drop it is to hard to say what the deal will be.
personally I could care less about the commercial seeing as it proves nothing seeing as they didn't even announce the device. The fact is all you iPhone users come here and bash something new that VZW customers have looked forward. If these folks are so happy with there device (iPhone) why even make a comment. Just because I'm no fan of the iPhone you won't see me over there bashing you guys.

As far as VZW nickleing and dimming you obviously didn't read what I have typed. I pay far less then any of you iPhone users and have just as many options as you do on my fully unlocked and uncrippled VZW devices. And lastly this device won't have VZW software so get your factss straight before you make another stupid statement
@will54880 call CS or stop in a store they'll tell ya. It is posted on the web for one. Maybe discontinued is not the right wording I guess at this point seeing as it will be back at some point soon. Anywhoo that is why most of the stores didn't have them in stock to begin with and you pretty much could only get them online or telesales. Word I got when I asked was they should be back by the end of the year tho.
@cgpublic you obviously have your head so far up your rear you can't even see the forest from the trees. All you do is bash anything that is not what you believe in or own. And that is fine we all have an opinion, but my lord grow up already tho.

You are also obviosuly clueless as to how or what works on or with VZW's network tho. So go ahead and think you are king shit with your iPhone. I'll take my VZW device and use it anywhere in the US, travel overseas to Paris as you noted and use MY VZW device just as well, so what is your point? However on that note at least I can go anywhere in the US and have my phone function unlike your iPhone with AT&T's network where boatloads of places it will not. So as far as this claim of going overseas and it working so what you can't even get it working everywhere in the states. To further add you can keep paying your $30/mon for data and I'll pay my $15/mon ( on my smartphone that is) for unlimited data and not be afraid to do as I wish. I will obviously have to up that with this device if I choose to snag one no biggie tho as it is the same price as what most other carriers are charging anyways. Oh and as for a thought on that note you better hope word of mouth does not hold true on AT&T as they may start limiting data usage on iPhones to do the network strain they are having. anywhoo back to my current device I'll even pair it with my laptop if need be via wifi for tethering and not have the carrier tell me I can't. I'll also put any game, app, java app, ringtone, music, picture...etc on my device for nothing and you continue to throw money at Apple for every last think you want. I for one am not like most lazy Americans like yourself who needs to have everything spoon fed to me. The old saying goes where there is a will there is a way, and guess what I found the way to get and do as I wish.

Be that as it all may I'm sure you'll be right back and start throwing all this Google & VZW BS around that is completely wrong to begin with seeing as you are clueless like I said. And when you do so look in the mirror because AT&T and Apple are no better. Fact is corp America will and does try to stand over us the consumer every day and until we the people stand up and say enough nothing will change. And guess what VZW obviously got the hint as there tune is changing. Bottom tho is it is all about money and profits. So none of these companies are any better then the next, they just want to squeeze every last cent out of us if they can.

So if your rampages make you happy about how bad everyone else is and how wonderful Apple & AT&T are more power to ya, plz ask me if I care tho. Fact is I don't, specially not from some smart*** who posts on the web and has nothing worth while to say or add. It is people like you who add nothing but heartache to society these days. Maybe for once you should sit back and say WOW that is kinda nice, or be happy for someone else on this planet as they have a new option. But to sit around bash, talk down on everyone and everything under the sun is pretty sad. Personally I'm no fan of the iPhone and will never be, but I'm not going to sit around and bash it, AT&T or an owner of them. You have and bought what you like/want which is great that is why we have options in life. The fact is the device 9iPhone) is just not for me and that is it. I have my reasons why but it is pointless to spill that to the web as it is meaningless and a waste of my time. Plus I'm no crowd follower and the last thing I want is what every other person has. So if it make you feel good about yourself sitting in front of your comp making smart remarks and knocking everything more power to ya press on then I guess.
For VZW is will be whatever calling plan you want depending on your needs for mins and then $30/month for unlimited data usage. The $45 plan is for enterprise to sync using there network. And in all honesty it is a waste of money.

Heck for myself currently I'm only paying $15/mon for unlimited data and tether using Wifi from my device to my laptop or my son even hooks his iTouch up to it at times when we are in the car. And before you ask no it is not a device you can get or buy as it was never sold to the public. Just using it an example of what can be done. But until Droid gets released I can say if that option will still work or not tho.
FYI the tTP2 is discontinued already. It is getting a hardware update and will be released again, this time running WinMob6.5 tho.
FYI the Droid is not a world phone that is a given. They (moto) is working on a GSM model tho as just mentioned. However it will not be out until right at the end of the year or the beginning of 2010.

There is talk tho there will be a different Andriod device coming to VZW sometime in 2010 that will in fact be a world edition. I'm not sure if it will be keyboardless or one with like the Droid tho.
I have a better idea how about I drop $300 on it, have no contract, and be on the better network and laugh as all you iPhone users complaining about how crappy AT&T's network is.

to further add to think Apple is the king of world is just laughable. Only reason all you Apple fanboys are making so many comments and knocking this device is there is going to be someone actually stepping on your toes now. A headline by the Washington Post even had said this device will be a good competitor of the iPhone so get over yourselves already. The iPhone is NOT the best or going to be the best thing to ever live. And if Apple doesn't do something about getting out from under AT&T they will end up suffering in the long run no matter what all you fanboys think. The days of APPLE and AT&T pulling customers to them are long done and over. And Apple is seeing it already I'm sure. Market share will be (if not already) saturated and if they are stuck on AT&T who else are they going to be pushing there device on. And don't say T-Mobile because if someone wants and iPhone that bad and is with TM they'll just buy an unlocked one and use it. So with that said there is nowhere for Apple to go seeing as there is no other GSM carrier in the states that can or would move any quantity of devices. However they can and will keep you bent over with releasing a new iPhone yearly that does hardly anything better or add things new then the last device had.

And all this talk of keyboards being dead or going away is also laughable. There is now way that is going to happen any time soon. there are many people out there who DO NOT want a full touchscreen device, PERIOD.
I'll second that.

As we can see it for sure got all the iPhone fanboys underwear in a bunch. For folks who are so in love with there phones I don't see why they even waste time commenting on something else. With that said VZW/Moto/Google they must be doing something right, which IMO it is about time. I'm so sick of iPhone talk it is unbelievable. I think if I see one more iPhone commercial I'm going to toss my TV out the window. Enough already I could care less how many apps you have, most of which are useless to begin with.
lol.... keep living in your pipe dream. Moto is far from done and to think Moto is done it just ignorant. They will make there come back just give it some time. I'll agree they were stupid living and riding the Razr line for to long but with new management they are starting to head down the right track now again. It takes time tho and will obviously not happen over night.

Maybe for you a keyboard is done, but for business users including myself a keybaord it much easier to use the a touchscreeen all the time. To further add touchscreen suck IMO when it is extremely cold out and for use folks who live in the mid west that is an issue. Even at that why don't you go tell that to all the BB users who WANT an actual keyboard. Fact is full touchscreen is not for everyone and this at least gives you an option which all you iPhone lovers don't have.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I've found myself using my PC for a lot of conversations lately, and I'm also considering recording a podcast to share with anyone who will listen. There are tons of USB headset / microphones out there, and I'm hoping someone has some solid recommendations based on experience. I'll consider both headsets and standalone mics, by the way, but I'd like to keep the bill under $100 if possible. Help!"
