I knew GM was losing it, but these are their picks? Oh well, seeing as how they sold their souls to the Marxists currently in power, I guess I shouldn't be too surprised.
Um, I hate to say it..but in this case the author is correct. Yahoo charges for POP3 access, which means their only free option is webmail (complete with ads and all the rest of it). Gmail still works just fine with Outlook, thx very much. Google is the only real search engine, and iTunes is still the best "total package" when it comes to an interactive music catalog.
Their starting to get a clue! But nobody has a TV with a card reader so you have rent the film, take it home, copy to computer and THEN copy to your iPod or whatever, and finally hook that to your TV. Far too much effort. Until they allow direct transfer to devices that have TV-out, or provide a set-top box with an SD slot, or until sub-$200 Blu-Ray players start including SD slots, this is pointless except to geeks with HTPCs or other high-end home theatre gear.
Perhaps it has to do with his tight-assed, petulant reply to lotusaurus. I'm not a Google worshipper, but hey Chris Z., If you can't take it, don't dish it out.
Um, shouldn't this be on Joystiq or something? Esp. seeing as how EA barely supports Apple.
So does that mean Google is "regurgitating" Murdoch's content, and by extension AP's as well?

Hey doofus, about 90% of the newspapers and nearly that many TV and radio news outlets rely on AP. As for Murdoch, he's hardly obsolete - he owns Fox and Sky News which have their own field gathering (although they use AP and probably every other source as well). don't fault anyone for wanting somebody to pay for their product - would YOU work for free? However, the only model that makes sense is a bundled scheme, i.e. paying one modest monthly subscription to get access to multiple sites. If Yahoo had a clue they'd be all over this, pitching it hard to Murdoch and the rest of the industry. Being the also-ran of portals, nobody will go nuts if they become a pay-content middleman, whereas Google could never get away with it.
..by which you mean, your kids oppose ILLEGAL immigration, because they are sensible Americans, unlike yourself.
If that Muppet girl had mentioned "MSNBS" as the "trashy" news channel, you'd be foaming at the mouth about it. You fool no one. Frankly, I would like to see an honest-go-God objective news outlet again, but those days are long gone. That having been said, its obvious that Fox isn't nearly as far to the right as MSNBC is to the left. That doesn't excuse their bias but it does give some perspective to their "fair and balanced" slogan.
I disliked TNG and outright despised everything that came after it. You will find there is a sizable minority of fans who take real issue not only with the soulless acting and storytelling of the later ST shows, but also the constant trampling on established continuity. You know why most Trek fans liked TNG? Nostalgia. "Star Trek" and the Enterprise were there on the screen, reminding people of a better and bolder era. You know why I'm sure of that? Because after seeing that JJ Abrahms abomination, I find myself looking back fondly at TNG!!
You know why the new V will fail? Because it probably won't be a remake, it will be a "re-imagining," ala BSG. And that always equals one thing: crap.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I own an iPhone 3G and I'm looking for a decent speaker / alarm clock for it. I am going to listen music in a mid-sized room, so I want nice quality speakers with solid bass. I also want to use it as an alarm clock, so it would be great if there is such a feature. The price can be low-mid to mid-high range. I was looking at the Klipsch iGroove SXT; it's powerful, slick and the reviews are good, but it doesn't have an alarm clock feature. It's no deal breaker if I can set it up from the iPhone, but I'm not sure. Thanks!"
