Really? The transparent keys and overall layout just make this thing look cheap to me, like a baby toy from Toys-R-Us, or a Sidekick. I'll stick with the professional look of my 800w, although I'll admit some flush-screen envy...
I've had one since Sunday, and I gotta say, I (almost) love this phone. Sure it could be a little thinner, have a flush screen, and WM still needs work. However, I disagree with the reviewer on a couple points: 1.) I personally like the conservative stylings, there's nothing gaudy about it, and it's not bland. 2.) I almost never have to pull out the stylus, the D-pad and good old finger-to-the-screen does the trick (except in Opera 9.5b, but that's a gripe for a different review.)

Two things really should be trumped up: 1.) the keyboard is phenomenal. I was torn between the 800w and the iPhone 3G, and boy did I make the right choice. (And yes, I use my phone for work, not play, so losing half the screen just to use a keyboard is undesirable.) 2.) The screen saver with clock and message indicators is so simple, but not having to turn on your device to get that info is huge.
This could be such a fantastic platform if they did two things: 1.) flush capacitive touchscreen, 2.) keep the HW keyboard, lose all the buttons above it. (Replace them with soft-keys if you must, but a gesture-driven interface would be better.) Now you're left with room for a 320x480 screen like the you-know-what. This gives you the advantage of the HW keyboard, and you don't lose half the screen when you need to type.

As sexy/tempting as the you-know-what 3G is, I think I'm getting one of these for two reasons: keyboard & multitasking 3'rd party apps.
To use the built-in ActiveSync, will you have to pay the extra $15/mo for the business plan? Is AT&T screwing you just because they can? If they're not adding any value, I'm sticking with Sprint/WinMo.
Somehow I can't justify growing mongo thumbnails like that guy just to type on my phone...
Great... First it was crapware pre-installed on your new PC, now you get crapware on your new phone too! I'm going to guess that HTC doesn't pass any of that payola back to the consumer by discounting the phone. Free Google phone anyone?
Jason - #23: I believe the memory card and USB port are on the bottom to minimize potential RF interference with the antenna.
Some tough questions for anyone with Sprint info:
1. Simultaneous voice & data? We've heard the rumors about EVDO rev. A...
2. Is the Crossbow SIP softphone going to come pre-loaded?
3.) Seamless data roaming between WiFi and EVDO-A? (Cingular 8525 owners, any luck?)
4. Where's the forward-facing video-cam from the TyTn?
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm looking for a solid state drive, around 32 to 64GB, for use in my web server. The drive will contain my web sites and the operating system, either Windows Server 2008 R2 or Ubuntu. Large storage is handled by a separate RAID array, so capacity is not an issue. Rather, I am looking for the fastest, longest-lasting, and most reliable drive under $150 that is suitable to my application. Any thoughts? Thanks!"
