It is nice of the FCC to investigate about this APP. But look at the answer of AT&T and Apple they don't give a s*** about the FCC. I think we need a stronger FCC in the US who can tell carriers and OEM to respect the rules, a little bit like in Europe. Now what about the monopoly of the iPhone with AT&T and the monopoly for roaming ? Why the iPhone is the only phone AT&T can't unlocked ? The RIM Bold is also an exclusivity deal with AT&T and why can you get the unlock immediately ?

In Europe (France as example) Orange had a monopoly on the iPhone. The European commission told Orange in France they can't have a monopoly for more than 6 months. Now 3 operators are selling the iPhone and the customers don't notice any burden on the 3G infrastructures like we can see in the US with AT&T.

Something good in Europe, it is the law to unlock "ANY" cellphones if you pay for the unlock code or if you're a customer for more than 6 months.

In conclusion I really hope AT&T is going to get a big lawsuit for the monopoly they created on the iPhone...
After an earthquake all the cellular networks are only used by emergency services. That's why it was impossible to make or receive phone calls.
JDOG sorry but you suck big time bro !!! Same thing for your arguments.

When you a cellphone full retail the carrier MUST give you an unlock code.

I asked ATT and Apple but they are so greedy that non of them could provide me with an unlock code. So I unlock myself my iPhone.
Hi if you're using a PC just use iBrickr

Just unlocked my iphone and this unlock solution is working !!!
Clever boy just made my day !!!

Thanks for this great and useful tip ;-)
Apple is just a company with a big mouth leaded by 50 something that don't have any ideas of it needed to market a proper GSM phone/smartphone:

- The first element is unlocking, it must be obligatory. When you're paying a device $599 you expect to be able to use it with any prepaid SIM card.

- The ringtone feature is BIG BS !!! You already own CD and after that you have to pay to make your own ringtone !!! Are you kidding me ? Just go to phonezoo.com to make it happen freely on any cell or smartphone and voila you have your ringtone on your cell/smartphone.

- You need to support third party application and not WEB 2.0. I'm pretty sure Steve Jobs had a b**er while showing facebook and what ? It is only a website application !!! They must start quickly develop third party application.

- Reducing the price of $200 is a big move and you'll have many user pissed at Apple. For me this price reduction only shows the world that Apple didn't match its expectations for the iPhone.

Right now I'm pissed at the Apple and I just can't wait the new Nokia N95 (US specs)
Yep I think there solution is not ready. Because they're living outside the US especially in a country where it is legal to unlock cellphone they have nothing to worry about. AT&T doesn't have power in the UK.

So it looks like they are late and the lawyer story was their only excuse of being late.

For VOIP call on your mobile phone you can use WOIZE. It's working very well. Nice Skype alternative because skype is not supporting the voice yet for low speed cpu inside smartphone with wifi.
Very bad idea. Do you remember the Brazilian bank which went bankrupt because a nice Nigerian sent a scam email ?

They are on the web just to send scam and try to steal money. Also just look at how many nice web site you can find in Nigeria about bombing, terrorist acts and so on. You won't be disappointed believe me...

You don't believe me ? Ok just put an ad on eBay or Craigslist for a car you have for sale or for a high end cellphone. Wait few hours and you will receive strange emails starting with "Good day sir (...)". They will s*** you very fast. It happened to one of my very best friend. He lost $5K !!!

So in conclusion this politic is good for PR point of view, the rich Google is helping the poor african country. Remember Google is not an evil company ? They don't think about consequences. The Nigerian government won't move its finger if you lose $5K or sometime higher amount of money. They will send you an email saying : "too bad for you"...

The right thing to do ? Firewall the US from any emails coming from this country where thieves are kings.

"I just switched to Sprint from Verizon about three months ago for the Pre. Then I went for the Hero about a week ago. Now, I miss my hardware keyboard and am thinking about switching to the Moment. I am still able to switch back to Verizon if I want and get the Droid when it arrives. Should I just trade up to the Moment when it comes out, see if I like it, and if not switch to the Droid? Or something else entirely? Help!"
