Although the Newsfire experience was clearly negative, people can be unfairly critical on the issue of product activation in general. There's an intriguing article (from a non-Microsoft source) *defending* Microsoft Product Activation here:

Beyond the clever interface, the interesting thing about the Google Phone (in common with the iPhone) is that it is likely to treat the network operators as dumb pipes. There's an intriguing article about it here:

I really can't see mobile TV taking off the way some people are predicting. There are so few times when it would actually be useful or usable. Check out: http://www.robinontech.com/2007/02/26/a-poor-reception-for-mobile-tv/

There seem to be two interesting things going on here. Firstly, the the DRM on next-gen DVD is being thoroughly circumvented. And secondly, the so-called 'war' between Blu-Ray and HD-DVD is turning into a damp squib.

There's an intriguing article about it here:

Whether or not this ad is fake, it all looks like a very good deal from Cingular's perspective - as they're not having to subsidise the handset. There's an intriguing article about the significance of the iPhone pricing structure here:

Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm in the market for a new phone and money isn't a limitation. I'm also not partial to any particular US carrier, but here are some of the features I'd like to have: WiFi, GPS, good coverage in lots of places, push Gmail (a must!), physical keyboard (a must!), a touchscreen, decent battery life and a relatively slim body. And please, nothing that has a fruit logo on it. No offense to the fruit fans, though. Thanks!"
