The LG update is done online, you can check for an update in the settings menu if it doesn't tell you its a mandatory update and go there itself.

I like my LG, and the Netflix picture quality got better with the update, I have 3Mbit DSL and the lower speed HD needs 2.6Mbit so that just works and looks pretty good. Standard def is 1.5Mbit at the best quality (these are the new VC1 format streams, lower bandwidth and better quality - there is a detailed explanation of Netflix streaming formats at blog.netflix.com a few weeks ago).
A visitor from the UK with a 3G iPhone on O2 tried this and it didn't work. The O2 roaming to ATT worked but the ATT gophone sum card would not activate
The iPhone has a special way of delivering voicemail to the handset. To implement this its going to need some backend services to call on that are integrated with the voicemail provider. So it seems quite reasonable that some features of the iPhone will not work if you just pop in a SIM card from a random GSM operator.
I live in the US and I own a 1973 Citroen SM... I didn't like the engine in the original DS, but a nice retro version with a decent engine would be cool. It doesn't need 4wd, but does need the hydractive anti-roll suspension. I'd buy one. ...
Very nice new site, and good timing with all the 3GSM announcements. Its hard to keep up with everything thats going on in mobile so I'll just keep tracking your RSS feed while I wait for a phone with a 12GB hard disk to ship...
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I own an iPhone 3G and I'm looking for a decent speaker / alarm clock for it. I am going to listen music in a mid-sized room, so I want nice quality speakers with solid bass. I also want to use it as an alarm clock, so it would be great if there is such a feature. The price can be low-mid to mid-high range. I was looking at the Klipsch iGroove SXT; it's powerful, slick and the reviews are good, but it doesn't have an alarm clock feature. It's no deal breaker if I can set it up from the iPhone, but I'm not sure. Thanks!"
