It is a little bit of a Captian Obvious, but at some point you have to start with a clean sheet of paper - S60 is mature, but also shows signs of unchecked organic growth going back to a time when the landscape was very different. I'd like to think Nokia can capitalize on Maemo - time will tell, but yes, it's positive now.

I'm curious as to what would happen to the excellent non-touch devices like the N86 / N85 / N79 though - Maemo's designed to rely on a touch screen...I'd hate to see them disappear.
I really like the idea of this phone + 60/mo with 500 min of talk, and unlimited text and data. The main thing to remember is that this is essentially unfettered linux, serious low-level functionality can be added unlike just about anything else out there...multiple web browsers, multiple media players, support for things we haven't thought of yet. Tasty.
"Better browser than the iPhone..." Wow. The webkit based Tear works pretty darn well on the 810, but looks like the new horsepower really helps. Any idea about battery life yet?
USTCC has been running for years. Check out USTCC.com, shows at finaldrive.tv. Sounds like we get a new pace car... :)
This car looks about as exciting as mud pie.
Heh - great review. This should set the standard for all so-called fancypants noise reduction units. I like Jabra's designs and my venerable BT-200 is still the most comfortable headset I've owned. But the only reason to wear a headset is if it actually works. Thanks for saving me the cash. :)
Wow - I didn't know that Kimi Raikonnen worked at Nokia! Such rousing delivery. :)

I have to admit this device may be cool enough to suffer along with ridiculously limited T-Mobile 3g support. Maybe I can keep another phone to use while I'm traveling.
You know, I have a 'just so crazy it just might work' feeling about this one. Wear one of these, then carry a Nokia N900 when I need more than just voice calling. Hmm...
Oh please be tri-band HSPDA...
Heh - didn't both Obama and McCain have their own iPhone apps during their campaign?

Find an app to help me support my political position (whatever that may be)? Nope, no app for that. Except Safari. Uh oops. Or a twitter client. Ack.

It could be that this sort of hits at the heart of what makes me wonder about Apple in general. The world available through them is a kinder, gentler, non objectionable, non politically charged, non explicit, non confusing, non duplicative experience...in essence one that seems to shy away from thinking too much.

Is that what everyone wants?
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I own an iPhone 3G and I'm looking for a decent speaker / alarm clock for it. I am going to listen music in a mid-sized room, so I want nice quality speakers with solid bass. I also want to use it as an alarm clock, so it would be great if there is such a feature. The price can be low-mid to mid-high range. I was looking at the Klipsch iGroove SXT; it's powerful, slick and the reviews are good, but it doesn't have an alarm clock feature. It's no deal breaker if I can set it up from the iPhone, but I'm not sure. Thanks!"
