what's the point of WI-FI if they force you to get the $30 internet package anyway... I just lost a lot of desire for this, or any smartphone. I just want my normal phone but the ability to use wi-fi when available.
yeah, i saw this phone in person today. I had been hoping for a verizon slvr since last summer, before the L9. but it sure took long enough, and it was nothing but disappointing. it looks big and archaic. the color shell is plastic, and clashes with the keypad, which was its worst trait. this thing was cut out of spun/lathed metal. so the surface of the keys interferes with the small lines between keys. also, it just looked cheap. at least the black version hides its flaws. and now with the 8700 and knowing what the shine candybar looks like, there is no way i could go for this. and of course, the verizon red interface; it has never looked this bad. but to note: there were three 13 year old girls in there just going gaga over it. congrats Verizon, way to corner the 13 y/o market.
what are the odds of the UI saying the nice complentary grey? i'm sure the network will ruin it with our favorite red.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm in the market for a new phone and money isn't a limitation. I'm also not partial to any particular US carrier, but here are some of the features I'd like to have: WiFi, GPS, good coverage in lots of places, push Gmail (a must!), physical keyboard (a must!), a touchscreen, decent battery life and a relatively slim body. And please, nothing that has a fruit logo on it. No offense to the fruit fans, though. Thanks!"
